We need more details. First, please provide an example URL where the browser crashes. Second, are you using the officially provided binaries at http://linux.palemoon.org/download/mainline/? Third, have you tried using a fresh profile?

Literally crash on any Chinese OR Japanese webpage, even when search with Chinese key words in any mainstream search engine.
I install binaries from AUR with source: https://linux.palemoon.org/datastore/re ... tk2.tar.xz
I've tried using a fresh profile, same.
I love palemoon's efficiency, but this issue is unbearable.

First try disabling hardware acceleration. (you have layers.acceleration.enabled set to true)
Also, if the crash is the X server itself, try disabling xrender in about:config. (search for "xrender")

Please provide a url with a positive and reproducible crash. It serves no purpose to state a URL which doesn't crash for you.

Thirdly, please provide crash details. What signal did it crash with, in which module? is there any output to the console when you start it from a terminal and it crashes?

After setup

Code: Select all

gfx.xrender.enabled
to false.
X no more crash!

I'm happy that changing that option works around the problem for you, but if you want this fixed for everyone in the long term please respond to Moonchild's requests so the root cause can be properly identified.

If it's an XRender crash then there is no ready solution for it as it will be a problem in X + the mobile intel driver + the mobile hardware in use that is outside of our scope.
There's no real issue disabling xrender as it will simply be using OpenGL for everything which is almost as performant but doesn't work very well in some scenarios (like remote X desktop use, etc.)

So, it seems to be a driver issue then that doesn't handle xrender requests well and as a result crashes the browser.
Disabling xrender is a workaround and using the official driver option solves the problem :)
