Why don't MSE for WebM be turned on by default?
Pale Moon comes with it not checked by default. Watching youtube videos is very laggy until I turned it on by trial and error and find out it really helped. I have no longer able to watch 4k quality videos on youtube with recent versions of Mozilla Firefox but with this same piece of hardware now I could enjoy 4k definition again with Pale Moon. Thank you and please let me know why you don't turned this very useful option on by default. If nothing really important to stop you from please consider enabled by default with newer releases. Thank you again

It's enabled by default though..? Are you using the official mainline build, and if so, have you tested in a fresh profile?

It's not enabled by default on Windows due to it causing various playback/seeking issues in the past for some people on some systems when enabled.

Re: Why don't MSE for WebM be turned on by default?
It turns out SeaMonkey also disable WebM mediasource by default. On SeaMonkey, there is no easy GUI to enable it. You have to go to about:config. BTW, I have no idea why, SeaMonkey without WebM mediasource enabled still play youtube videos very smoothly. Pale Moon needs WebM mediasource to be enabled to archive the same thing. When both browsers were tweaked, the playback quality of them is on par.

Also, both Pale Moon and SeaMonkey are unable to play 4k youtube videos on this computer. I selected 4k quality but they fooled me by automatically resort back to 1440p and I didn't notice that. 1440p is just fine on my pc. Mozilla Firefox and Chrome also have no problems with 1440p. May be this pc is limited to 1440p.

Perhaps. I can run this test (which mTube claims to be 2160p) on Pale Moon without problems : Real 4KHDR Dolby Test.
Forked extensions :
● Add-ons Inspector ● Auto Text Link ● Copy As Plain Text ● Copy Hyperlink Text ● FireFTP button replacement ● gSearch Bar ● Navigation Bar Enhancer ● New Tab Links ● Number Tabs ● Print Preview Button and Keyboard Shortcut 2 ● Scrollbar Search Marker ● Simple Marker ● Tabs To Portfolio ● Update Alert ● Web Developer's Toolbox ● Zap Anything

Yes, that plays OK at 2160p too.

FWIW, at this time I can play the video in 64 bit linux Pale Moon 31.1.0 running in 64 bit linux Mint 20.3 (Una) Xfce.
I'm using a desktop tower computer which originally came with Windows 8 which is now running linux Mint. It has 32 GB of memory with a Radeon HD gaming graphics card so this desktop tower has no problem at all playing this video at 2160p60 4K. The processor in it is an Intel i7-4790 processor with a processor speed of 3.60 GHz.
