The computer I am trying to configure is looking like this:
bad PM.PNG
My userChrome.css looks like this:
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gateke ... s.only.xul");

#TabsToolbar .tabbrowser-tab .tab-content {
font-weight: 800 !important;

}

/* #menubar-items { font-weight: bold !important; }*/
#menubar-items .menubar-text {
font-weight: 800 !important;
}

#personal-bookmarks .bookmark-item > .toolbarbutton-text { font-size:9pt !important; font-weight:bold; }

/*
#bookmarks-view,
toolbar,
toolbar menuitem,
toolbar menu {

font-weight: bold !important;
}
*/
#bookmarks-view,
toolbar menuitem,
toolbar menu {
font-size:8pt !important;
font-weight: bold !important;
}

How can I change this to act like the old computer??

I now notice another annoyance in Pale Moon on the new computer: When I go to full screen the tabs and toolbar stay on screen.
I do not have the 'Always show the tab bar' checked. :crazy:

@wavymoon: The forum's Search facility, top right all pages, will find previous helpful discussions. :)

Why not just transfer your 'good' Pale Moon profile from the old machine to the new?
See: 'Trying to copy my installation of Pale Moon to a new PC' - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24428&p=190194#p190200

Full Screen Mode has various toolbar hide/unhide options...
Try: 'full screen mode' - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=27626&p=221984

I copied over the old profile and I am getting the same spacing. It wouls sem to be an artifact from the Nvidia card software or a tweak I made to windows to get it to display the same as the old computer. I used 'Advanced System Font Changer' from wintools.info but that had problems on the new video card. I am still hoping some css can alleviate this as the rest of windows seems fine.

The maximize window that does not hide tabs is not a problem on the old transferred profile so that does give me some direction however the problem occurs in the new profile even in safemode. I am hoping that should give a hint where to look.

I should mention that 'Advanced System Font Changer' software is the old free non installed variety.

From experimenting with 'custom' display/screen resolution options on a Win10 laptop I'm aware using non-standard settings can have unusual effects... but only using laptops I've never tried tweaking particular video cards. Perhaps a desktop PC and/or Nvidia card Pale Moon user can help with more practical advice Re: display tweaking? :geek:

FWIW - I've never been able to get exactly the same Pale Moon Profile and screen setup to look nearly as good on Win10 as on my old Win7 machine. Sigh. :(

From the sublime to the ridiculous I'd also suggest the following:

1. Look for CSS script ideas to do with 'menu line spacing', 'list spacing' or similar in older Mozillazine, Ghacks, and Firefox Support posts (beware as there are many newer discussions on same 'menu line spacing' subject needed to make latest versions of Firefox more compact): 2. Just check you have the 'Use Small Icons' box at bottom of 'Customize' window selected on your new machine?

Update !!
I ran 'Advanced System Font Changer' (old free non resident version) an changed 'Menu Height' on it. Pale Moon now looks good for me!! :D :D Why only Pale Moon seemed to be effected by this is a good question.

Thanks for the suggestions Blacklab ! Knowing what to search for is half the problem!

Now for the Tabs not getting hidden in full screen

Note: while Pale Moon menus look like they are drawn using system widgets/system calls, they are, in fact, not, and are drawn using XUL instead. So they will respond to different tweaks than you might expect.

Check Auto-hide has not been turned off.

In 'about:config' confirm preference: 'browser.fullscreen.autohide' is set to 'true'...
True = Automatically collapses toolbars and the tab strip in fullscreen mode and only show on mouseover. (Default)
False = Always show the toolbars and tab strip in fullscreen mode.

----------

BTW - There is a second fullscreen control preference: 'browser.fullscreen.animateUp'...
Integer 0 = Do not animate the collapsing toolbars/tabstrip.
Integer 1 = Only animate the first collapse; subsequent collapses are instant. (Default)
Integer 2 = Animate every collapse.

Blacklab Thanks here too!
I have gotten the showing\hiding of tabs to work again. Seemingly by toggling the option several times! I will be wactching the 2 places you pointed out in the future if the problem returns!

The 'menu line spacing', 'list spacing' problem has come and gone and come back. (thanks for the vocabulary)
Using my OLD version of 'Advanced System Font Changer' I can get it back by setting menuheight to 18 from the default 19.
This seems to set this reg key:

Code: Select all

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics]

"MenuHeight"="-283"
This is some kind of weird interaction that I may never understand but at least I know a procedure to return to my normal :thumbup:
