I'm working on a web API and authorization is done via request header. If I visit a resource URL without the specific authorization key/value in the header I get a 401 Unauthorized error (as designed). I then open up the dev tools, navigate to the Network tab, and then the Headers sub-tab. From there, I use the [Edit and Resend] button to modify the request headers with my authorization key/value and send the request again. The Response sub-tab then contains the correct response, but the main browser display window does not update. It still shows the 401 Unauthorized JSON response. I would expect the main display window to update, or for the to be some way to send the response to the main display window.

For kicks I checked Firefox and it exhibits the same poor behavior. I guess one could argue this is working as intended, but the behavior I'm expecting seems a lot more useful.

I know this is an awful time to report an issue like this. I'm sorry about that.

I've been trying to come up with a way for others to reproduce this, and I've found a simple solution.

Visit any web site at all. For example http://www.blackle.com/

Then open up the dev tools to the Network tab. Refresh the page. Highlight the HTML document in the list and in the Headers sub-tab click the [Edit and Resend] button. Change the New Request entry to GET www.duckduckgo.com (or any other web site) and then delete the entire contents of the Request Headers text box. Click [Send] and notice the Response sub-tab has Duck Duck Go content (or whatever site you used second) but the main browser display window still shows the original web site content.

I'm quite sure this problem is manifesting in a new way now.
I have a web site that right now seems to be sending a new page via JS XHR. I will work on fixing that if I can, but while I do I thought I'd mention it here.
The same thing happens. The network tab in the dev tools shows the new page was downloaded, the response shows up in the dev tools, but the normal UI window does not reflect that response. :(

devtools in Pale Moon are pretty much as-is. They are extremely complex and have their own entire team behind it. We simply maintain its functions in maintenance mode but bugfixing (or even having a grasp on how they work) is not within our group of active developers at the moment. This kind of interoperation is even a bit more complex than the already complex normal functions as it deals with how they specifically plug into the browser back-end...
Maybe you can suss out something by searching on bugzilla.mozilla.org as that would likely also hold bugs about the devtools...

I wonder if this second situation isn't really a devtools issue. I'm navigating the site as normal, and devtools actually has the proper response captured, but the main browser window doesn't reflect that. Odds are though that I'm just not having the web server return the proper response (headers maybe?), since I checked with another browser (Firefox) and that abomination is behaving the same way as Pale Moon. No doubt I'll be able to get this sorted out, but it seems like an especially odd situation. It is almost assuredly something idiotic JavaScript is doing and the sooner I can rip that garbage out, the better. :thumbup:

Edit: Yah, disabling JavaScript via the browser has these pages navigating properly. Time to gut some obnoxious JS. :crazy:
