20.2.1 Default is incompatible with 20.2-x64

Win7hpSP1x64 - Pale Moon 64 v20 Portable

It's been a while since I've looked in Add-ons Appearance since I've had zero problems with the RedGang theme.

So I was a bit surprised by the "Default is incompatible with Pale Moon 20.2-x64" tag on my i7/Z77 Tower.

That's not showing up on my i5/HM65 Laptop which is still at 20.2-x64

There don't seem to be any problems otherwise when switching from RedGang to Default.

I've searched the forum here as best I can for a similar topic to no avail. Sorry if I'm too dense to find it.

If I'm alone in this, what's the fix? If a fix is needed at all...

Thanks :!:

The installer version is ok here on my Xeon Ivy rig but I use Classic and no Aero, etc.

Maybe it's only in the Portable?

The portable is just fine. I think you may have had something interfere with your update (AV software perhaps?).
The 20.2.1-x64 Default Theme is an included system theme with 20.2.1-x64; and obviously your actual browser didn't update, and is still at 20.2-x64. This means that your chrome/UI files got updated but your binary files didn't (or they got reverted to a previous version).

You should grab the portable package and extract the fresh copy, then copy over your profile from the one you are using now.

"AV software perhaps?"

All security apps are configured with exceptions or Allow/Trusted for Pale Moon. Except for outbound rules in the packet firewall - ports 80 and 443 only, all others "ask" - gotta keep an eye on that 843, 1935 and proxy (8080 etc) stuff and block the dangerous ephemerals to those weird IPs/domains not yet on the blacklists.

"You should grab the portable package and extract the fresh copy, then copy over your profile from the one you are using now."

That's exactly what I do when I "upgrade" my portables, Pale Moon and otherwise.

Specifically, I rename my Pale Moon folder from
c:\portables\palemoon64
to
c:\portables\palemoon64-PREV (for previous)
and create a new palemoon64 folder and extract to it.

I then run it to make sure the "install" went OK then copy over the "PREV" Default folder. I wait a few days before deleting the palemoon64-PREV folder.

Anyhow, thanks for the input. I've been using 20.2.1 for 4-6 hours a day since July 8 without issue and I'm keeping 20.2 as is on the non-Aero Laptop. No lost sleep here.

We'll see what happens when the next major Pale Moon arrives. October? v24?? Oh, the suspense! ;)

Worst comes to worst, I'll just have to build a new profile. I think the one I'm using now goes back to v15...

Cheers.
