I just purchased a new Windows 10 Pro laptop. I have installed several programs, and everything seems to work just fine.

I then decided to install Pale Moon. So I downloaded the newest version: palemoon-29.4.1.win64installer.exe.

But when I run the .exe file, I get this error message: "Profile Missing. Your Pale Moon Profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

I have tried several times. I even tried to install it in several different directories. Always got the same message.

Any idea what might be causing the problem, and how I can overcome it?

Create a new user account and test it there.

Do you mean a Windows User account? Why might that have an effect on this issue?

Because it affects the profile saved in Appdata, each user has its own %userprofile%.

Is the the "...installer.exe", as in you get this message during the program installation, or is this after the install completes & you are attempting to run palemoon.exe ?

The install appears to work. I get a Pale Moon icon on my desktop. But when I double click on the desktop icon to open it, I get the error message.

When I right click and review Properties, nothing seems amiss. I even tried running as an Administrator, but the results are the same.

I just downloaded palemoon-28.7.1.win64installer.exe. I tried it and got the icon on my desktop and the same error message as above.

The OP in a 2014 Firefox Support thread had your problem:

NOW, I go to open my newly installed Firefox and a window comes up that says: "Your Firefox profile can't be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

Try Corel's suggestions in that thread: My profile is missing so Firefox won't open at all. How do I reset it then?

Corel's link to 'Start the Profile Manager when Firefox is closed' will show if you have a default profile or not.

It is possible, although the few other programs I have tried to install worked just fine, including Chrome. I am running the AV that came installed with Windows 10 Pro. How would I check to see if that is blocking Pale Moon?

Since this is a new machine it may well have come with preinstalled bloatware. If there is a (trial) version of any security program such as an AV, try disabling or preferably uninstall it - Windows Defender will automatically take over and is unlikely to cause any problems with installing PM.
