You tube ads ?
Hi,
I'm new to Pale Moon (Just a week), but on every visit to YouTube I'm getting the ads at the start while on firefox I had nearly any. Is this a matter of adblock or PaleMoon setting?
Thank you

What Ad-Blocker do you use?
The profile picture shows my Maico EC30 E ceiling fan.

Re: You tube ads ?
There's actually a bit more, try searching on: "adblock".
uBlock Origin (Legacy) in particular will address the ads that run at the start of YouTube videos.

Thank you, with your answer I had to learn how to install external addons that are not under the palemoon "search".

Re: You tube ads ?
Just to note: you shouldn't have many (ad)blockers active at once, they may conflict with each other.
Re: You tube ads ?
They WILL conflict either fighting with each other for priorty on a content basis or colliding with each other when they are literally based off the same extension.

Re: You tube ads ?
Huh. If you search for "adblock" from the Pale Moon add-on site, you get the 4 results. But, if you open the add-ons manager in Pale Moon and search from there, you only get 3 results. The external add-on, uBlock Origin, does not get found. Seems odd that it would show in one place but not the other. Is that intentional?
Re: You tube ads ?
Externals don't physically exist on the Add-ons Site nor is managed by it being a minimal virtual listing.
The Add-ons Manager only deals with tangible xpi files it can get metadata for and direct install. I could allow it to work as such but then the developer would need to provide much more detailed information as well as direct location on an xpi file which could become out of date quickly if they did not keep it up to date and in sync at all times not to mention the Add-ons Manager has no way to indicate that it is an external source.
Asking an add-on developer to go to that much manual trouble would negate the whole point of maintaining independent distribution infrastructure and a simple external listing.
You see it is not odd at all when you use a moderate amount of critical thinking and consider more than a single surface observation.
