A mobile UA...
From curiosity, what is your post responding to ?

(I don't believe anyone has suggested using a mobile UA.)

If you've never heard the term before, most likely you didn't change it.
For completeness, if one were to change the global user agent override, instead of the site-specific one, the global override would take precedence over the specific ones.
As such, it is possible for uninformed (or misinformed) users to "break" the SSUAO mechanism even without knowing about it.
Of course OP probably didn't change that one either, especially not after the preference got renamed; I'm saying this just in case.

I could be mistaken for sure, but my impression was that OP wasn't familiar with any sort of UA overrides.
But yeah, just in case.

Off-topic:
Not entirely sure of that, see here, 1st paragraph (from late last year).

Oh yeah, completely forgot about that, and I even posted in that thread.
Apologies then, I was mistaken. Still, when no specific override is set, the global takes over when modified, which is still not ideal.

Forked uTube to ΜTube (aka muTube), now available. Be warned, though, the mobile page will show ads, which embedded versions usually manage to bypass. It also pauses videos if you switch tabs.
Even after deactivating and / or deinstalling that addon the behaviour persists.

Opening www.youtube.com redirects me to https://m.youtube.com/

So please tell me how to restore the default behaviour.

btw I cannot open an issue at https://github.com/RealityRipple/uTube

The redirect may have been cached. See the comments on the muTube page for bypassing the browser cache using the Developer Tools toolbox.

With the add on installed I don't see any obvious setting to turn off the video pause when switching tabs, or perhaps that's just how the mobile site works? So you can't play music in another tab. But my workaround for now is to open something in a new Pale Moon window, not tab. Otherwise working great.

Full 1080P on some videos with the mobile mode addon:
https://realityripple.com/Software/Mozi ... ns/muTube/
The 720P is not a limit of the mobile site per se, apparently it depends on the video, perhaps there are some even higher resolution mobile videos?

I have 29.4.01 x64, running on an ancient Gigabyte board with an Intel Core i5-2400 @3.10GHz in Windows 7 x64.

I thought I had problems with Youtube, and I'm very glad this thread is here! It seems that I actually don't have problems, except that it takes a while for the scripting to catch up with the streaming. I lit up Task Manager, and PM is indeed using all four cores... but there is a visible lag between the kernel times and the user times in the core displays on starting the stream.

The odd thing is, a few months ago my ISP decided to give me a sample of "proper" (200 Gb/s) for a free trial. This ended the other day (back to 50 Gb/s) and now Youtube seems to load faster? Perhaps the stream is taking longer so the wait for the scripting is appearing to be shorter? It was really annoying with the 200 Gb/s trial!

Edited: I can't spell "i"...

Extremely laggy on YouTube and other sites

Hi,
When I'm opening youtube Palemoon always hangs up to 10 seconds before he loads youtube, I'm using YT all the time and it's really annoying when browser hangs every time I change the video. It also happens on other modern sites like Google Drive, Gmail, Outlook.
