Fixed -> Startpage Search appears to be blocking all Moonchild browsers
On both of my Win10x64 Intel NUCs, beginning this evening, using any of the Moonchild browsers - even with a new profile - when I attempt to search for anything, Startpage takes me to the page shown in this image.
I haven't tried it on my Win7x64 machines.
Is it only me?
Thank you.
As mentioned, I've tried it with the new release version, the latest unstable, and the latest Basilisk.I haven't tried it on my Win7x64 machines.
Is it only me?
Thank you.

Re: Startpage Search appears to be blocking all Moonchild browsers
If I go to startpage.com I get the homepage.
I tried a search for "test" and I got a listing of results back.

Occurred with me also but did not specify it was a specific "moonchild" browser but rather suggested i was using TOR or a vpn to which i do not use either.

Re: Startpage Search appears to be blocking all Moonchild browsers
Thank you for your reply.
I was trying to say that it only happens with the Moonchild browsers, not, e.g. with Firefox or Chrome.
Please have a closer look at the image I posted. It seems to be identical to what you saw: It doesn't mention anything about Moonchild products.
My posting is worded based on my experience.

Thank you for your reply. I think you mean "What the fuck is a 'Moonchild Browser'"?
In this case, I'm referring to Pale Moon x64 29.3.0 and 29.3.0a1 (portable 2021-07-15); Basilisk x64 2021.04.27

Re: Startpage Search appears to be blocking all Moonchild browsers
I've been reticent to mention this, but it doesn't happen with the latest Firefox or Chrome.

Re: Startpage Search appears to be blocking all Moonchild browsers
Interesting. Startpage works for me, except when using a clean profile (no ad/script blocker). Maybe blocking the scripts allows it to work? Or perhaps it's the difference between Gecko compatibility versus Firefox compatibility?

Re: Startpage Search appears to be blocking all Moonchild browsers
This was it, but in reverse.
When I reset the UA to "normal" in the browser Preferences, Startpage worked as expected. I didn't try "Gecko", but the "Firefox" UA was apparently what broke Startpage.
A mega-fast non-scientific test revealed that this change allowed me to log into EBay.de without a captcha for the first time in months and, happily, it didn't create any problems for access to my banks. I'll have to do more checking.

Startpage did this once for me this morning, then went back to working as usual. I have Firefox Compatibility selected.

Your signature indicates you're using Win7. As I wrote, I haven't tested it on my Win7 machines.LAR Grizzly wrote: ↑2021-07-20, 00:11Startpage did this once for me this morning, then went back to working as usual. I have Firefox Compatibility selected.

It might affect Win10 more than it does Win7. I wonder what they're doing.

Re: Startpage Search appears to be blocking all Moonchild browsers
It happened to me too earlier today using linux Pale Moon, but it seems Startpage is back to normal. The error or whatever it was affecting Pale Moon, was on Startpage's end.

Live A/B testing of overzealous blocking or something?

This case is now closed for me.

Re: Fixed -> Startpage Search appears to be blocking all Moonchild browsers
You will always receive the error page if your search term begins with a " (to identify a coherent term).
For example, if you are looking for "search term", Startpage blocks, if you look for search term or +"search term", it works (but recently it looks like parameters as + are ignored and you get search results that contain either search or term).
