There's no separate Youtube account, if you have a google account you will receive the mail.

That seems to skip the ads with the guerilla scripting add on, although because You Tube is a bit randomly problematic for me in general even with guerilla scripting disabled I'm not sure if it has any bad side effects as well. There was an updated version of the other script I was using but I'm not sure it's relevant now as I haven't seen the login pop up without it.
Wait, it's all Ohio? Always has been...

At least I have one question answered. I know its not just me, or my computer; that is good to know, that others are having ad issues with YT also. Hope we can find a good resolve (for windows) soon, as we all know it is very annoying. I don't mind "non-intrusive" ads on the side, but when they interfere with videos, that is very annoying.

Would you mind providing a link so one can test?

@LAR Grizzly

If you care to reread that thread:
Of course, with an active ad-blocker (uBO in my case) the ad gets blocked even with cookies enabled.
I see no ad there and I'm not the only one. ;)

Strange, I wonder how different systems are experiencing different outcomes. I have uBO as well and I get the ads no matter what I've tried.

Have you blocked doubleclick.net?
Does uBO show it blocked on YT? Can you provide a screenshot?
It should show as mine.

Yes. I have it a little more locked down than yours. I still get ads as you can see in the screenshot of Moonchild's link.

Okay, we have several problems here..

ONE: Youtube is not the exact same code wise from region to region or even user to user logged in or not or UA given it from hour to hour.
TWO: Youtube is making a huge push to get more ads through the blockers ahead of their new policy that gives them the right to monetize every video... PERIOD
THREE: Google fuckin hates us personally including YOU.
FOUR: All THREE adblockers have somewhat different capabilities.
FIVE: Why aren't you just using Chrome for Google Services when they will NEVER work properly in a UXP Browser even if we bend over backwards to try?

So basically if you are posting on this forum about this at this point.. It is basically just bitching.. While I hope it makes you feel better.. It ain't gonna accomplish shit. So I recommend not bothering.

I monitor over 40 YouTube channels for daily content. I don't and won't have a YouTube account.

I have found a perfect solution (for me):

1. I visit the YouTube page.
2. If there is a newly posted video, I copy the link location.
3. I go here or here and paste the link to download the video.
4. I watch them on my PC avoiding YouTube.
5. The only ads I get are the ones embedded into the video. For those ads, I have a fast forward button!
6. And for those who are about to complain about intellectual property, I don't share the videos. I watch and delete. ;)

ONE: I don't know much about that so I won't comment
TWO: All that means is that YT made the first move - the game is not done!
THREE: Google does not hate you; they just love money more.
FOUR: true
FIVE: I avoid Google related stuff whenever possible... I use Duckduckgo as my search whenever possible. YT is just a necessary evil; as there really not much for competition out there.

This has not gotten to "bitching" yet; it is discussing - hoping there is a workable solution that has been over looked. Something that works for everyone just just Linux or Windows!

ONE: Then Google is generous for now with the region (DE) I'm connecting from. However I have no account for any service of them and such don't have to log in.
FIVE: No Chrome or any of its derivatives anytime soon on this device.
IceCat (FirefoxESR compiled for privacy) would be the lesser evil for me in worst case scenario.

Since you don't have to log in, out of curiosity - did you try with (all) cookies disabled?

However, best thing is to avoid their streaming service if possible.

The ad starts at 3:04 and ends at 3:09. It's a "sponsorship" internal ad.

Thanks for the link.
I connected this time through an US SOCKS5 proxy. Still no ads with proxy.
Whatever Google's criteria for injecting ads is, I doubt that it is a regional thing. More plausible is that they make use of data they gather from the browser.

Just chiming in with my 2 cents worth: I've been trying to only use extensions from the Pale Moon addons site so I installed the ηMatrix extension.

I haven't been able to work out how to configure it for youtube despite trying every combination of settings I can think of. Either every ad plays, or nothing plays, not even the video I want to watch. Perhaps I'm just having difficulty understanding it. I am a half-blind geriatric, so I'll use that as an excuse for now ;)

After reading the comments in this thread I installed ublock-for-firefox-legacy-1.16.4.28 and it worked immediately, blocking all ads but still allowing the required video to play.

Now if I can just work out what uBlock is doing that ηMatrix is not, maybe I can configure ηMatrix to be as effective as uBlock.
