Block everything from the doubleclick.net domain, and subscribe to adblock filter lists for uBlock. Easylist, EasyPrivacy and Fanboy's lists are the most popular ones and cover most of everything. Other than these you can also find lists to block irritating 'subscribe to our newsletter' or GDPR cookie notice popups. I have never gotten ads on Youtube in all these years, I didn't even know when they started inserting them because of my adblocking game being perfect.

Off-topic:
Those of you using uBlock, do you have a link to the xpi for installing it? The current "stand-in" extensions page only shows an icon file under uBlock. Thanks!
