To downgrade, do I uninstall the new one first?

Unread post by blind12 » 2021-04-28, 02:49

I unexpectedly lost access to essential addons that I use Palemoon for (they are not available for other platforms), so I need to go back.

Do I install the old one over the new one, or do I uninstall the new one first?

Well, I think you are kind of screwed if you didn't backup your profile. What extensions do you use? Did you bother checking if they have already been forked for Pale Moon?

My particular favourite oldtimer is Hacktheweb, to isolate content from junk instantly.
I don't think there are any useful analogs.

I don't know about that. Search the extension site I linked to. Will this one help?

It is related, but not close enough.

I delete unnecessary parts, or isolate necessary parts discarding the rest, and then save to MAFF for reference, a lot.

E.g. research papers are much better to read as MAFF aka html than pdf, and it's easy to add various markup into html.

EDIT: I uninstalled the new, reinstalled the old, worked fine

What he linked to lets you modify a page on the fly and save the result as a script for Stylish. I was looking at porting a similar one called Platypus, which lets you save changes you make as a Greasemonkey script.

easy to add various markup into html.
Depends when and how you want to do it, but Simple Marker & EditDatContent may help.

Forked extensions :
● Add-ons Inspector ● Auto Text Link ● Copy As Plain Text ● Copy Hyperlink Text ● FireFTP button replacement ● gSearch Bar ● Navigation Bar Enhancer ● New Tab Links ● Number Tabs ● Print Preview Button and Keyboard Shortcut 2 ● Scrollbar Search Marker ● Simple Marker ● Tabs To Portfolio ● Update Alert ● Web Developer's Toolbox ● Zap Anything

Hint: If you expect a reply to your PM, allow replies...

I will look at these, thank you. MozArchiver is one of the reasons why I use Palemoon, but the others I haven't tried
