netflix won't play possibly because of compatability problem

Post by mipak » 2020-11-06, 18:54

quick question ...

tried to watch 'inception' on netflix on the computer
but was stopped and told to install microsoft silverlight first.
downloaded, installed it and warm booted the comp. 3 times.
couldn't get anywhere!!
the suggestion was made that perhaps i should use another browser (no chance of that!) but i was wondering how difficult it would be to enable PM to accept silverlight. i can't be the only one to have this problem and would very much appreciate any assistance to allow PM include silverlight. i understand that it installs via tools > add-ons .....
my thanks in advance.

I've found that the 32-bit Pale Moon tends to be more consistent at playing Netflix in recent months.

Make sure that the Plugin is available in 64 bit PM and also check if it is enabled.
Powerline adapters (dLAN) hardly interfere shortwave radio, so stop using them.

Yes, I still use a 64 bit capable Pentium 4 670 processor with Pale Moon.

To accomodate Netflix' preference for 32 bit Silverlight, the browser's built-in user agent override for Netflix was adjusted to advertise Pale Moon to them as being 32 bit.

Have you by any chance altered that built-in override?
(Put the following in your address bar: about:config?filter=general.useragent.override.netflix.com
Hit Enter, and post the user agent you see displayed in about:config)

Or have you added a global UA override to the browser?
(which might interfere with site-specific ones)
