Palemoon freezing temporarily or endlessly on Gmail Account opening

Unread post by Aviation » 2020-08-29, 14:12

Since 2 to 3 years, i can't remember when this started to happen, each time i'd click on disconnection,
exiting me from my account & moving me to the login page again, using addon:
"Remove cookie for google account chooser 1.0.1", entering the email id & then,
the password, & validating, this would happen..

1) temporary freezing (~20 seconds to 4 minutes)
2) or endless freezing forcing me to kill palemoon in the task manager.

All i have is error infos:

Code: Select all

Where did you find the extension: "Remove Cookie for Google Account Chooser"? Since you didn't list the link to this extension, when I searched for the extension, I found it at the link below.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... google-ac/

This extension is for Firefox Quantum. Not for Pale Moon.

And if it at one time if it was a legacy extension, suffice to say after 2 or 3 years, it is probably not compatible with Pale Moon any longer.
Linux Mint 21.3 (Virginia) Xfce w/ Linux Pale Moon, Linux Waterfox, Linux SeaLion, Linux Firefox
MX Linux 23.2 (Libretto) Xfce w/ Linux Pale Moon, Linux Waterfox, Linux SeaLion, Linux Firefox
Linux Debian 12.5 (Bookworm) Xfce w/ Linux Pale Moon, Linux Waterfox, Linux SeaLion, Linux Firefox

From legacycollector.org, but the site shut down, you can select the extension from here too:
github.com/JustOff/ca-archive/releases/download/2.0.3/ca-archive-2.0.3.xpi

1. Does it happen in safe mode?
(Please read the linked article to see what safe mode affects.)

2. Does it happen in a new profile?

Off-topic:
Gmail's security is overbearing -- over the years (don't use Gmail anymore at all) I had lost access to two different Gmail accounts simply because their security apparatus was unable to function in a way to confirm I was the owner of the either of the two accounts. Really atrocious - while attempting to gain access to these accounts by following numerous different approaches Gmail recommended or suggested doing - I would get messages that I had recovered my account only to ultimately find out each time this was not true and still had no access to either of the two accounts. In the end I gave up on attempting to gain access to the two accounts. Totally irresponsible security software on Gmail's part to have this occur and to have it occur twice - unbelievable! Something that has otherwise never happened with any of the over 50 email accounts I've had using various services for over 3 decades. Only Gmail was this bad!

This overzealous security approach that Google practices impacts all Google platforms as I have recently given up on using Google Calendar in a 3rd-party software because Google recently blocked access to their calendar due to Google's far too rigid security concerns. So I since switched to MSN's Outlook Calendar instead with no issues at all thankfully. I don't need software that goes to such severe extremes that I'm constantly battling their ever increasingly onerous security restrictions to keep it working. (and besides all of that there are so many other reasons to avoid Google as much as possible anyway )

Thanks for your report Pallid, it seems to confirm what i've already faced before.
Even if we try to hide private infos like email account infos from their search page,
they found a way to counterfeit those styles. & i've also never liked their way of patronizing
what users can & what they cannot read through gmail's private filter, like when i'm exchanging
adult content with a consented partner & they decide it should go to "spam" so no email client can
retrieve it through pop access. Which is an invasive way of filtering spam through guessing
instead of user reports. I don't know if i should still leave gmail cause unfortunately,
not every popular email server offers "user's connection ip undisclosure" through
mime headers, which makes their service more legit to reach other email servers accounts.
I also believe to have tried safe mode before unsuccessfully for the concerned issue
& without results.

You believe? Or you know?
You need to know, and it needs to be recent. Please try again.
