Its operation costs are covered by the content being problems solved by users for people who pay to have these problems solved... ...human-brain solving is a valuable commodity.

This is a bit confusing. What kind of problems are easy enough for typical Web captcha (matching fruit, vegetables, whatever), yet at the same time complex and valuable enough for people to pay for?

Unless this simple "human-brain solving" is training some sort of junior AI?

What do you mean? I just changed it to use hCaptcha instead if the sortables captcha for registration and such.

In other news, I contacted a website I use all the time that presents an asinine "BS" ReCaptcha and this was their response:
