V. 28.9.0 and 28.9.0.1 with YouTube - My mistake

Post by JoeyG » 2020-03-25, 08:30

I've just tried both versions (64-bit) with a new profile, and I see that Moonchild is 100% right in my case: On my machine (Win7 x64), they work fine with YouTube.

It's obviously something on my side that's screwing things up.

I can only recommend to others to test with a vanilla profile to see what happens.

Just to repeat, in my case, using the following UAS fixes the issue:

Code: Select all

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:62.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/62.0 (Pale Moon)
I can live with this solution, but of course I'll have to scramble again when something else changes.
Pale Moon x64 28.9.3, 29.0.0a3 (portable 2020.05.10), and Basilisk x64 2020.05.08 - all on Win7 SP1 x64 (English). Lenovo S20, Xeon X5670, 12gb RAM. NEC PA272W on Matrox C420. NEC SpectraView 241 and PA241W on Matrox M9120. Thanks to the devs.

Thanks for your tip. I''l have to try a new clean profile profile in both linux and windows Pale Moon and see if this fixes the problem for me with the default user agent for YouTube..

I'm using windows 64 bit Pale Moon 28.9.0.1 running in my backup 64 bit Windows 7 operating system and I can confirm with a clean new profile, with nothing else added (no extensions, no customizations) the new YouTube interface is working with YouTube's dark theme in windows Pale Moon.

YouTube is seeing my user agent as:

Code: Select all

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0 PaleMoon/28.9.0.1
I'll now have to put back my extensions, one by one and see if YouTube still works. If it does and I'm assuming it will, then I will put back my customized settings for windows Pale Moon again, one by one.

Since YouTube is working with 64 bit windows Pale Moon 28.9.0.1 and so my extensions (NoSquint, uBlock Origin) and customizations with a new profile, I've switched over to my 64 bit linux hard drives and I can confirm with a new profile YouTube is working again in 64 bit linux Pale Moon 28.9.0.1 running in, as of this posting, 64 bit linux Mint 19.3 (Tricia) Xfce along with my two extensions and all of my customizations.

Using linux Pale Moon, the new YouTube interface sees my user agent as:

Code: Select all

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0 PaleMoon/28.9.0.1
Now to do the rest of my linux Mint hard drives.
