I've never had Pale Moon Commander installed. Just an FYI.
So coffeebreak could be right about the normal HWA settings from Pale Moon. I'll try some testing later.

Also, I've always had hardware acceleration turned off. Another FYI.

Okay so I've had the same issue with formfill pop-ups not showing when they should but a browser restart fixed it. I don't have any steps to reproduce which makes troubleshooting this more difficult.

It would also be helpful for people to try and reproduce it in Basilisk to either confirm or rule out a vaguely potential avenue of investigation.

I can't reproduce this problem in either Pale Moon or Basilisk and I tried several different logins for both browsers
it all functions perfectly for me.

I was able to reproduce it on my laptop. Password autofill and web.whatsapp.com broken.
- had one profile (profile A) with "use hardware acceleration when available" disabled and a copy of that profile where I had this enabled (profile B).
- profile A had "user_pref("layers.acceleration.disabled", true);", profile B had it missing entirely
- I manually downloaded the 28.9.0 installer to not disturb the testing flow with the now .2 release
- started profile A after upgrade and it has the issues at the moment. IMPORTANT: It has "user_pref("layers.acceleration.disabled", true);" AND user_pref("layers.acceleration.enabled", false); in it after I disabled the new HWA setting, too. Changing the new HWA setting has no affect on "user_pref("layers.acceleration.disabled", true);"
- profile B works just fine after the upgrade
- profile A can only be fixed by manually editing that prefs.js file in this stage. Normal user has no possibility to do that with the UI in this situation

Edit:
profile A started working again as expected after applying 28.9.0.2 through the Updater. It removed "user_pref("layers.acceleration.disabled", true);" automatically, solving this whole problem.

Doesn't happen for me in Basilisk 2020.03.11 Win7-32.
I checked Pale Moon updated to 28.9.0.1 Win7-32 starting in another profile where I did not delete the line user_pref("layers.acceleration.disabled", true); in prefs.js and the same thing with not showing the masterpassword prompt happened again (also the YT banner and old layout).
I also noticed that after updating Hardware Acceleration was enabled in >Preferences>Advanced>General, though my default setting has been set to disabled before. In the prefs.js of that profile I found the two lines

user_pref("layers.acceleration.disabled", true) and
user_pref("layers.acceleration.disabled", false)

After deleting the first one everything runs fine again.

edit*) related to Blocki's post: Autofill-function isn't enabled in my profiles

... just seeing the .2 update. thx team!

If you're still having issues with this, try updating to 28.9.0.2 and see if that helps.

1. I uninstalled 28.9.0.1
2. I installed 28.8.4 with a matching profile.
3. I updated to 28.9.0.2

user_pref("layers.acceleration.disabled", true); is no longer in my prefs.js file.

Everything seems to be working correctly!

Thanks again, Moonchild and crew!

nah (for me) , i just updated to 28.9.0.2 from 28.9.0.1 (in which i'd done sajadi's prefs trick from this thread) and the modified line of code "user pref(=layers acceleration etc)" - (now with "string" on end -is this the fix?) - reverted back to login prompt not working and youtube banner showing outdated version.. but i removed this new line and both login prompt and youtube worked again.

I didn't want to take a chance that 28.9.0 or 28.9.0.1 borked my profile so I started fresh.

If you have an older backup of your profile, you may want to try starting from PM 28.8.4 like I did here:

This is exactly why I generally wait about one week after a major development release of Pale Moon. We all make small mistakes even after Beta testing and for such huge project it's nearly impossible to avoid from time to time. Great job

Thing is, this normally doesn't happen. Also, security vulnerabilities.. You should read the release notes or track actual development if you are gonna be making decisions regarding updating.
