Just me, or is Youtube snokkered today....

Post by Rickkins » 2020-03-22, 19:44

Videos will not start if opened from a tab, showing An error occurred. Please try again later. (Playback ID: CAUQLqsvb_j3nFWJ)

A search says it's due to adblockers, I use abl...

Thoughts...??

SeaMonkey had the same problem. I blocked an external javascript called "www-tampering.js" from YouTube for both and the problem disappeared. I thought those filter lists for uBlock Origin got updated automatically anyway. Why was there no problem with the chromium browsers or with Safari?

They do, just not every other minute.
You should force the update process, to get the latest fixes now!

Most likely because the automatic update process, which you refered to, simply hadn't kicked in yet, for those browsers.
Therefore, they didn't download the problem rule, which was added earlier today, but has now been removed!

I also had to get rid of YouTube Lazy Load. I found another autoplay stopper which works and causes no problems.

er, link??? :D :D the only constant is 'change' ... YT changes stuff *again* , some other thing creeps in, needing *massive* rewrite...

So, issue seems to be back, and I notice that disabling easylist makes it go away. Would this just be a case of waiting for the folks at easylist to release an update, or something else...??

Thanks.

Like I mentioned here, it's an ongoing case:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24048&start=20#p186360

I'm not experiencing any problems at my end though.
Could you post an example link?

It's universal, across every video. Disabling easylist eliminates the issue, but that's not a great cure.

Are you talking about YouTube videos embedded on third-party sites, or videos on YouTube itself?
Also, which filters are you using, besides EasyList?

I'm referring to videos on youtube itself. After I updated the list the other day, everything went back to normal. Today it's back to snokkered...

Adblock Warning Removal List
Easylist,
Easyprivacy(just added now, and not related to issue)

Thanks

Well, whatever it might be that's causing it, uBO isn't affected.
I'll test with ABL..

YouTube videos play just fine for me, with EasyList enabled in ABL.
Are you sure that you're using the standard EasyList version, and not some type of localized fork?

Ok, youtube does seem to work with uBO. Issue with that one is that it doesn't have the element hider that I like...

Thoughts...??

Try using this one:

Elements that you pick will be added to "My filters".

Since YT also works for me with ABL, I don't know.
