Can't Synch (master) 26.5 ON XP with (slave) 28.84 On Win 10

On the XP box, I can not connect to the synch or recovery server no matter what I try. I suspect the server address has been changed. Can anyone help? Is there a way to copy & paste files from XP to Win 10 that would solve this? It would literally save me hours. TIA!

To see the sync server address in use, search for sync*url on about about:config page.

However, I'm note sure if the sync will actually work as data format used by the sync client may have changed in such a long period.

If you were successfully using sync earlier and started seeing the issue recently, it may have happened due to server migration. In that case, it should resolve automatically after some time.

Thanks! My copy of 26.5 does not have the option "sync*url" or anything that includes the word synch in about:config. I have not tried to use the feature before.

It'll be "sync" without the "h" in preferences.
Specifically look for services.sync.serverURL which should be https://pmsync.palemoon.org/sync/index.php/

I found the setting. It appeared to be correct, but just in case I missed a letter, I pasted yours in. Still got the same response, "Server not found

Pale Moon can't find the server at pmsync.palemoon.net."

When I just click on the link in your post while using PM 26, I get a response, "invalid request".

There are some sites that PM 26.5 won't connect to at all; I assume it's some sort of issue with new security protocols. Do I have something like that here?

make sure the url is correct (.org) and unlink, then re-link the XP one.

Check your preferences. Although there should be a new negotiation when re-linking, it's possible the old version of pale Moon has a bug locking in the cluster URL incorrectly.
Find occurrences of pmsync.palemoon.net and replace them with pmsync.palemon.org

Thank you for your help. I can now connect to the server, but I have no clue how to get my recovery key. I apparently did create an account in the past (based on saved log ins), but never synched 2 copies together.

I'm unable to check my saved password without the recovery key (if I understand what I'm seeing correctly), & it won't allow me to ask for a password reset ("function not found")

When trying to set up a new account from scratch, it reverts to not being able to find the server.

Thanks....... already tried that. There is no "I have lost my other device" option. There is an option of "I have lost my other device". When I enter the saved log in info & click on that, I get "Failed to connect to the server".

Thanks again for your help. Are there any files I can copy from one pc to the other, or are they encrypted to only work with this install?

I found a partial solution: "Pale Moon Backup". It gave me all my bookmarks, & all my passwords if I manually look them up. Not all forms auto fill (though I do have that option checked) & to see the Bookmarks toolbar I have to click it every time I open PM or anytime I leave the page I first opened PM with.

Is there any way to install No Script on the latest PM?

I seem to have solved most of the issues. No Script only pops up occasionally; & some logins were not carried over. It's usable as is.
