ClearType/font smoothing issues on sites.
I've been having issues in Palemoon 28.7.2 x64. On some sites the font is... thin?
Most noticeable on Youtube and Discord. Here: In the Discord screenshot, Palemoon is on the left and Firefox is on the right.
Any help?

Going by those pics, it looks like the font in PM just needs to be bolded to match the font in FF. It can be easily done using Theme Tweaker.
I use it myself to have custom fonts in PM. I bolded the text and changed the font to Palatino Linotype. Works great without issue.

Does it bold the font universally?Sessh wrote: ↑2019-11-14, 00:10Going by those pics, it looks like the font in PM just needs to be bolded to match the font in FF. It can be easily done using Theme Tweaker.

The UI in Palemoon is perfectly fine and on most sites I can't see too much of an issue. But SOME sites are obvious.

Hmm, actually I see what you mean now. If i load that, the font is thin for me as well. Someone more experienced with tweaking settings where dragons lie may be able to give a better answer. My bad, theme tweaker wouldn't help with that, I guess.
Re: ClearType/font smoothing issues on sites.
Looks like your thin font is because you are using GDI classic rendering (the kerning gives it away). This can be caused by blocking of downloadable fonts resulting in a standard font fallback that is rendered with GDI classic for smaller sizes.
Pale Moon here renders exactly the same as your right hand side screenshot.

Yup, confirmed. If I enable downloadable fonts (uBlock) for the site, I get the bolded text.

Do you have hardware acceleration (or Direct2D) disabled? If so, try enabling them. What is your GPU? I get a similar result with gfx.direct2d.disabled set to true in about:config.

Direct2D Is enabled and I have made sure that uBlock is not blocking fonts. Same results.

Additional Pics:
It seems to get WORSE If i'm actually playing a video on YouTube.
And even effects the UI, but only when i'm in the youtube tab
