Weather.com not working with 28.7.x

Unread post by RedRamGT » 2019-09-18, 12:37

Hi, the Weather Channel website (weather.com) stopped working with Pale Moon 28.7. I did some testing, and it works okay with 28.6.1. At the top of the screen, I should be able to click on the "Show me the weather in...", enter the location, and have it show the weather forecast. Clicking on it does nothing... I tried the useragent from 28.6.1 on 28.7, and that made no difference. i also tried the different "User Agent Modes" in Preferences, and that made no difference. Is there something else I can try?
Thank You!

See if this helps.
"One hosts to look them up, one DNS to find them and in the darkness BIND them."

Linux Mint 19.2 Xfce x64 on HP i5 laptop with 4 GB RAM, always latest versions of PM & Basilisk unless specified.

The problem seems to be caused by polyfill.io.
(The problem goes away when their scripts are blocked.)

Code: Select all

Error: too much recursion
Source File: https://cdn.polyfill.io/v2/polyfill.min.js?features=default,Array.prototype.includes,Array.prototype.find,Array.prototype.contains,Array.prototype.findIndex,HTMLPictureElement,String.prototype.trim,performance.now,IntersectionObserver

Error: Error: Expected reducer to be a function or object with next and throw reducers

Changing the user agent for weather.com doesn't help, but changing it for polyfill.io (to a Firefox 60 user agent) does fix it:

Code: Select all

general.useragent.override.polyfill.io

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:60.9) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.9
(There was such an override due to problems with Financial Times which was recently removed because it was no longer needed there. That would be why it works in 28.6.1.)

Glad it helped.

RedRamGT, please be so kind as to contact weather.com to apprise them of the problem and ask them to fix it.
Link them to this thread, and it might also help if they looked at this and this.
