cannot access gov.uk sites

Unread post by prino » 2019-08-15, 17:37

https://www.gov.uk/file-your-company-ac ... tax-return transfers, on clicking "Start Now", to https://www.access.service.gov.uk/login/signin/creds which tells me:

You cannot access the service from this page

To access this service, you must return to the government page you came from and start again.

You can also start again from the GOV.UK home page.

You might need your Government Gateway user ID and password.

Make sure your web browser can accept cookies.

Firefox works without problems, UK Inland revenue tells me this page should never even show. I allow cookies, use *YOUR* adbloc latitude and that's it.

FWIW, from the U.S.A. clicking your link brings me to
https://www.gov.uk/file-your-company-ac ... tax-return
and a page that says "File your accounts and Company Tax Return".
/me crosses self and grabs for some garlic.
Maybe you're on the secret list of people-we-want-to-mess-with-and-drive-bonkers.

I left clicked on your first link and then the second page quickly appeared. After left clicking on "Start Now", I was taken to a login/sign which is a
Sign in using Government Gateway" page. That is as far as I got since I don't have an account.

BTW, above the Gateway, these words also appear which are: " BETA This is a new service – your feedback will help us to improve it"

To access all the info on all three pages, I'm using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 28.6.1 running in linux Mint 19.2 (Tina) Xfce. The only addons/extensions I'm using are NoSquint and uBlock Origin with UBO with the default settings. The site sees my user agent mode as Firefox Compatibility.

Since it's a government site, I suggest you disable ABL on it since depending on your filter lists it may not like what gets blocked (and a government site is unlikely to have ads...).

When on the site, right-click the ABL icon and select "disable on {{name of domain}}" to automagically make an exception rule for the site.
