Broken Save Dialog Box
So I have no idea what I might have done to cause this, but Pale Moon stopped working with Download Links. If I click a Download Link, nothing happens. Usually the Dialog Box pop ups asking me where to save the file. Right clicking and choosing to save the file from the context menu works.
It works absolutely normal in Safe Mode. I have changed nothing on my setup at all. One moment it worked the other it didn't.
Things I've tried:
Disabling all add-ons extensions and themes
Clearing the cache and most cookies
Un- and Reinstalling Pale Moon
Operating system: Windows 7
Browser version: 28.3.0
32-bit or 64-bit?: 64-Bit
Problem URL: Every Url (e.g. https://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/for ... y-edition/)
Theme: Moonfox

Re: Broken Save Dialog Box
please check your preferences, category general -- is it set to "Always ask me where to save files"?

Re: Broken Save Dialog Box
That's the first thing I checked and it is still checked. I also checked the default save location to see if it makes a difference, but Pale Moon won't download to the default location either when clicking download links.Moonchild wrote:please check your preferences, category general -- is it set to "Always ask me where to save files"?
All Pale Moon does is an ultra fast refresh of the page. You can only notice it, because the reload button is greyed out for a sec.
Before anyone asks, yes, I tried turning my PC off and on again as well. ;P

Please post the output of help -> troubleshooting information so we can see what important preferences may have been altered causing this.

Re: Broken Save Dialog Box
weird. the Save as dialog box is working on my end on the site OP mentioned, even after upgrading Palemoon from v28.2.2 to v28.3.0 on my Win7 x64 machine.

Please re-read the original post. OP reports having this problem on every site; the site he linked was just given as an example.

By this I would say an add-on conflict.SpikeG wrote: It works absolutely normal in Safe Mode. I have changed nothing on my setup at all. One moment it worked the other it didn't.

I'd agree if it were not for the indication that the OP has tested with all add-ons disabled.billmcct wrote:By this I would say an add-on conflict.
Then again, we've seen that some extensions influence the browser merely by being installed, and perhaps "FlashGot" which is a download manager is one of them.
Also, if extensions are restartless, disabling them in a running session may not completely clear it from that session and a restart would be required anyway.

Safe Mode, where OP said "it works absolutely normal" does involve a restart.
Re: Broken Save Dialog Box
Removed every add-on except for Autofill Forms. Didn't fix the problem.Moonchild wrote:I'd agree if it were not for the indication that the OP has tested with all add-ons disabled.billmcct wrote:By this I would say an add-on conflict.

When I restarted in Safe Mode I left everything unchecked, so I didn't disable my add-ons.
Re: Broken Save Dialog Box
No matter what checkbox you check add-ons will always be disabled in Safe Mode.
Re: Broken Save Dialog Box
OK, I AM SUCH A DUMB IDIOT!!!
I have a second display connected to my PC I rarely use. My desktop extends to that display. For some reason either dumb me, Windows, or Pale Moon somehow shifted the Save Dialog Box to my second display and must have remembered its position there, when I closed Pale Moon. So every time I clicked a download link it opened up again on the second display. And since it popped up on my primary display in Safe Mode I didn't even think that it could be such a simple problem. To be fair though it was all the way in the right bottom corner of my second display, so it's unlikely I dragged it there myself by accident.
Sorry, I wasted everyone's time!!!
