Add-on manager issues
Thank you for the help with the last issue. Now it is time to fix the next one. The Add-on manager may freeze sometimes. It cannot update add-ons and hitting "Appearance" means instant freezes.
What is the process for fixing it?

Re: Add-on manager issues
I first started using windows Pale Moon back in the summer of 2011 and I have never experienced any freezes or update problems with the Add-ons Manager which includes the present version of windows Pale Moon (28.2.1).
Since I didn't like the direction Microsoft was taking with their Windows operating systems starting with Windows 8, I started using linux specifically linux Mint as my operating system distro of choice. Linux Pale Moon was first released to the public in January of 2014 and I beta tested it before the release date. I've been using linux Pale Moon since that time and I have never experienced any freezing or updating of addons with the Add-ons Manager using linux Pale Moon which includes the present version of linux Pale Moon (28.2.1).
To my knowledge, I've never heard of anyone else on the Pale Moon forums site having any freezing problems or updating problems with their addons when using the Add-ons Manager. You are the first. Have you considered you may have inadvertently done something with your version of Pale Moon that may be causing your problems with the Add-ons Manager?
What I'm getting at is this. Lots of people tinker with their browser, customize their settings, use custom themes and what not and they inadvertently create problems for themselves with their Pale Moon browser. In other words, I don't think there is a problem with the Addons Manager. I think the problem you're having with your Pale Moon is on your end some place.

Should we assume that it's the same browser you provided the Troubleshooting-info about in the other thread, starting with:Eleventy_Threeve wrote:Thank you for the help with the last issue. (Including NoScript which makes the browser unsupported.)

If you really are using Pale Moon 25.7.0, see here ...Eleventy_Threeve wrote:The Add-on manager may freeze sometimes. It cannot update add-ons and hitting "Appearance" means instant freezes.

Re: Add-on manager issues
We already had read them and we know that it is an old version. The plan is to update IF we don't lose all of our add-ons. Especially NoScript. The whole reason for running PM was to have them. Not the other way around.
The plan was when everything here is to get PM straightened out to try a 27 and see what happens. If it worked then 28. However, those add-ons aren't just there because we like having a lot of stuff. They are VITAL for the things that we do.
Also, the troubles with the manager are recent and we have not made any direct changes to it in recent times.

Re: Add-on manager issues
Well WE don't offer support to users using severely outdated versions of Pale Moon or users using NoScript. So you two are out of luck.
Given that you have already read it.. I would say that you two are actively trying to deceive us by not disclosing the fact you were using a 2015 version of Pale Moon of which has been stated just about everywhere along with the fact that WE have no idea to whom WE are speaking at any given point.
Good day, Sir and/or Madam.

Re: Add-on manager issues
Considering how old that version of Pale Moon is, and considering that the add-on manager reaches out to a palemoon.org infrastructure that no longer supports that version and will no longer serve you updates, I am not surprised that you are encountering problems with it. As Tobin pointed out, versions that old cannot be supported.Eleventy_Threeve wrote:Also, the troubles with the manager are recent and we have not made any direct changes to it in recent times.

Re: Add-on manager issues
We want to move on but everything has to work. There were some offline issues that would be a little too personal to get into in a forum that kept us behind. Just know that we do want to get updated as much as possible and not lose everything in the process.
Re: Add-on manager issues
As a test, create a new, clean Profile.
Open Addons Manager.
Does it freeze?
Click the Appearance tab.
Does it freeze?
Check for extension updates (even though you have none at this point).
Does it freeze?
(Whether the update check will actually return a valid result is a different matter.)
There, so it all works.
Then what?
Some issue with your existing Profile.
Seem to recall an issue with Addons Manager being quite slow to open.
Don't recall what the cause was (& there was a "fix" for that).
I do not recall any crash related issues with Addons Manager.

Re: Add-on manager issues
Since you have the extension Pale Moon - Add-ons - FEBE why not make use of it? Then try the new version of Pale Moon via a portable version?Pale Moon for Windows downloadsEleventy_Threeve wrote:We want to move on but everything has to work.
You can then try to reinstall your extensions/addons individually, find what works, what causes problems and what needs to be replaced.
This would allow you to keep your current installation intact(such as it is) while you endeavor to upgrade.
Re: Add-on manager issues
Thank you for the replies. It may take some time(as we are buried in a couple of projects at the moment) but we will report back sometime soon(assuming the internet holds up) and hopefully have some good news.
Thank you.
One followup question? Is there a folder that stores personas? We want to delete some of them(maybe manually) as part of the cleanup.

Re: Add-on manager issues
Please be aware that we cannot and will not provide support for very old Pale Moon versions (if you are still on v25 then you are way out of the support range, even for community support) and even more so if you have NoScript installed. There are known, severe issues with that extension and unless completely removed from the browser any kind of odd behavior (including freezes and crashes) will first and foremost be chalked up to NoScript. I can't even imagine the possible interaction issues with your other 150+ extensions.
I'm sorry but you will be on your own with any issues until you at the very least update to v28.*, remove NoScript, and remove any experimental/forced compatibility extensions from the browser.

I noticed you're using Tabgroups 0.3. Version 0.4 is avialable at the PM Extensions page.Eleventy_Threeve wrote:Thank you for the replies. By persona, I take it you mean profiles? In Windows, go to your AppData/Roaming/Moonchild Productions/Pale Moon/Profiles folder.

Personas are lightweight themes which apply a background image and minimal styling to the application.Public Enema wrote:By persona, I take it you mean profiles?
