v28.x and flash plugin / Content Security Policy problems [Solved]

Unread post by Montclair » 2018-09-24, 11:54

Just updated to 28.1 and cannot get content on Flixtor to play. I get the messages "Flash plugin failed to load", followed by messages about invalid RSS/JSON feeds and asking me to reload. The issue does not occur in 27.9. I looked at the inspector error console and see the following errors in 28.1, but not in 27.9

Code: Select all

I updated to the latest flash and also tried toggling options in the plugin's config for Flash protected mode, but am not having success.

For further testing, in about:config, I set security.csp.enable to false, tried the site again, and now get this error in the console:

Code: Select all

08:02:26.525 Cannot play media. No decoders for requested formats: application/vnd.apple.mpegurl, application/vnd.apple.mpegurl, application/vnd.apple.mpegurl, application/vnd.apple.mpegurl 1 [name of whatever video]

I clicked on your link and went to the site. After clicking on the Captcha to tell the site I'm not a robot, all the movie content trailers played for me.

Since I use 64 bit linux Pale Moon 28.1.0 running in 64 bit linux Mint 19 (Tara) Xfce, I'm one of those that doesn't find Flash to be a "dirty word" in the digital world like many people do. I have linux Flash 31.0.0.108 installed which automatically comes through my Update Manager when there is a new update for linux Flash. Some of the sites I visit still need Flash since they're not on the HTML5 bandwagon yet.

Works for me using the compatibility mode : Firefox (doesn't work in native mode)

Win7 32bits - unstable portable 28.2.0a1
Diversity is key.

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

This was it. I use User Agent Switcher, so I tried FireFox 40 as the UA, and it worked. So much UA sniffing going on these days that isn't necessary, or not done correctly - very annoying. Thanks!
