Problem with Acronis

Unread post by Octopuss » 2018-09-22, 08:55

Does anyone here use True Image by chance?
https://account.acronis.com/#/products just doesn't load at all.
I tried Edge and it doesn't load either.

...Firefox works.

That's why I specifically asked for people who own Acronis products!
It's not about a login page. It's about the content, which is obviously accessible for people with an account only.

Ask the website owners. We obviosuly can't troubleshoot this and if it also doesn't work in other browsers they website is having issues.

They told me the problem is with my browser, basically fuck off.

I mean I can give you the username and password if you are dying to figure it out, but I don't think you are (I wouldn't be either).

I just don't understand why it doesn't even work with Edge.

Looks good to me. (Unless I'm not seeing something in SeaMonkey that I should be ;-).)
Going through all the tabs; Products, Profile, Settings, Support, all looks the same too.

I have just created a new profile, and it still doesn't load. Disabled Ublock, and still nothing.

I don't get it! Why is it working for you?!

edit: Safe mode - no luck either.

Have you tried using CCleaner to clear your cache and try again?

I don't use Acronis since it nuked a lot of computers over the past few years, and I want my backup software to be reliable.

Why would I use questionable cleaning software to delete browser cache?
Besides, I said it didn't work in Edge either.
(And I said I was on a new profile)

@ Octopuss

Looking at your screenshot, at the bottom left of the page, it seems the page is "waiting for mc.yandex.ru" to finish loading. Could that be causing the problem?

Now it's not waiting for anything anymore, but the page still doesn't load.

The whole company feels fishy to me now anyway, because all I want to do is display my personal info in my account, and the friggin' website makes connections to what might be half dozen tracking website and who knows what else.

Stil not sure why it doesn't work though, because I did disable Ublock as a test.

Explain.
Why is uBlock in a new Profile, even if disabled?

If you're creating a new Profile, keep it new.
Load the page, & ... ?

Do you use external blockers, HOSTS file, something through your A/V, or ... ?

Though I no longer use Acronis, I did in the past and still have an account. I was able to log in to that account. I saw a page like the one therube and you posted. I went through the four sections (Products, Profile, Settings, and Support). At first, Products took a while to load, so I went on to the others, which loaded quickly. I then clicked on Products again, and this time it loaded quickly. I'm using PM 28.1.0 32-bit on Windows 7 Prof. 64-bit.
PM 29.1.1(32-bit) on Win10 Professional 64-bit

Because it's more thorough than even the built in tools? I have seen CCleaner find Edge and IE temporary internet files after Disk Cleanup was run. I don't know how Microsoft could miss their own folders, but there you go.

Only 5.45 was really sketchy, what with the spying on people and all that. In newer versions you can go and disable snooping in the very-easy-to-find options. Turn off Smart Cleaning / Monitoring and Privacy sharing.

That said, now that Avast owns it it has an automatic update mechanism. I observed after they released 5.46 which fixed the snooping, computers on 5.43 and later automatically upgraded to it, while 5.42 and before did not. Typically they use automatic updates as encouragement to buy their paid version, so it is likely due to them being concerned about events like that hack/malware that got in years ago.

Now, with that out of the way, why are you using Acronis? That software is junk and has nuked more computers than I can count. Do you want links? :| You should be seeking more reliable backup software ASAP. Don't uninstall it though. In the recent past (2 or 3 years ago maybe?) It could completely destroy Volume Shadow Copies and other parts of windows when being uninstalled. SFC and DISM failing a repair was sometimes caused by uninstalling Acronis. Restore points would fail to revert in the recovery console, making it difficult damage to undo. You should run from such software, not walk - it's as high quality as the old Norton and McAfee Antivirus, which to be fair - a lot of people lucked out on using and had no problems...
