Certain images cannot be drag & dropped to folder to save

Unread post by clayman » 2018-09-21, 05:53

OS: Windows 7
palemoon version: 28.1.0 32bit

when trying to drag and drop a non-secure image over HTTPS, to a folder, the operation is completely ignored.
This did not occur for my laptops old PM install, but upgrading to the new version, it is also broken.

steps to reproduce:

https://www.mixedcontentexamples.com/
from this site,
non-secure image > HTTPS
or, https://www.mixedcontentexamples.com/Te ... ecureImage
and attempt to drag and drop the image to a folder.

i have tried:
PM safe mode, reinstalling, changing mixed content settings.

But, I'm still unsure if this is a bug, an intentional change, or a problem specific to me.

addons:
adblock latitude
noscript
tree style tabs
disconnect
remove it permanently

although, they don't seem to affect it.

thanks in advance.
any feedback is appreciated.

If I drag and drop (with Ctrl held down, to make a copy -- otherwise it'll error because it will try to move) to an explorer folder, there is no issue doing so from the mixed content image page.
Win 7 x64 + PM 28.1.0 x64

So... works for me?

Of note what is saved there will be a bitmap copy from the rendered page, not the source file. This is an intentional change because mixed-mode elements are not considered trusted. Drag-and-drop would otherwise have the potential of crossing untrusted content as-is to a trusted zone (when moved within content). If you want the original image you have to open the image by itself first, then drag it.

(Thanks for noting those distinctions.)
