"Save As" is not creating htm file
Greetings,
I know it isn't necessary, but justa let you know I have made contributions to support Pale Moon:

I was using PM-32 on " https://www.winxdvd.com/resource/avc.htm " to refresh the differences between .mp4 and .m4v video formats. I did a "Save As" to download the website. The "_files" directory was created, but there was no corresponding .htm nor .html file. I closed the 32 and used the 64 to do the same thing and the results were the same.
I'm an Amateur Webmaster so I have several browsers on my PC. I tried the same thing with Firefox and Opera and they both did a full "Save As". Firefox created an .htm file, and Opera created an .html file. I executed both of them (using PM-64 which I use for that purpose) and they both worked. I have to admit that Opera is my default browser, mostly because of its "Duplicate Tab" feature. However, Pale Moon has more functionality that I like when I'm browsing for technical matters ABOUT websites -and- I use it for HBO-GO and other movie viewing websites. Consequently, this is (probably) the first time I've used PM to save a website.
My PC is a 64-bit, HP P7-1174 (seven years old) running Windows7 Pro. My PM versions are both 28.0.1 (current). Yes, I did search the Forum for "Save As" and other words that might apply. I did the same on the Internet with no results. I can't believe the "Save As" problem I'm having is new, so I'm open to any comments or suggestions on how to get this to work.

Re: "Save As" is not creating htm file
Saving the full web page works fine here.
(PM 28.0.1, Win 7 x86) Have you tried saving the page in Safe Mode to rule out interference from an extension?
(PM 28.0.1, Win 7 x86)
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: "Save As" is not creating htm file
Thank you for the idea.
First, I don't think that should be necessary - even if it IS necessary.
I used the 64, put it in Save Mode with none of the options that popped up. The same thing happened - no HTM(L) file. the _files files were exactly the same as regular mode.
Having said that, at least that was one more idea than what I had which was "e^(pi) + 1", AKA 0.

Worked here as well, Pale Moon 28.0.1 64bit on Windows 7 with 71 of 79 addons enabled

Well, good. I'm glad to hear that. My thanks to the Forum Community for steering me to the conclusion that Firefox is the way to go.
Re: "Save As" is not creating htm file
Well, at least you had confirmation the issue is not with the page or the software as others do successfully get the file.
Sorry the confirmation that it was most likely an issue with your system was not to your liking.
As to other advice than what has been given (to which you did have an attitude which is not encouraging of giving further advice):
Perhaps a permissions issue.
Perhaps an administrative policy.
Perhaps interference from antivirus or some other security software.
There are large numbers of possibilities that could be unique to your OS, Hardware, Installed Software, and Configuration. The issue itself sounds rather unique and I do hope you find a solution.

Re: "Save As" is not creating htm file
Maybe useful for others: I've experienced a few sites failed to save as single *.maff and assumed scripts and third-party content, ad-banners and videos to be the reason, as saving worked when I turned JavaScript off and gave it a refresh.
Saving of the above mentioned site worked well in both, *.htm and *.maff (using PM27.9.4-32)

Re: "Save As" is not creating htm file
It has taken me a couple years to find out what was happening with this. I suppose you are a LInux user? I am too, in Windows I never had thsi problem but I did in Linux.AnotherGeorge wrote:Greetings,

Take your file manager and look into the folder you are saving those webpages into. I am pretty sure you will find the htm or html files are there, together with their appropriate folders. It's just that the browser doesn't detect them as html files if the name of the page doesn't show this extension, so they are not shown at all in your browser's download dialog window if what you are downloading indeed is a htm or html file.
It know this is a silly and stupid state of affairs but this is how it is. Linux apparently doesn't let you download html files while also letting you know this is what they are, if the .htm or .html extension isn't part of the name (I hope what I am saying makes sense and I didn't say something stupid).
Edit - sorry, just noticed you mentioned you are using Windows.
