Thanks
gepus, that's it.
It did play for me on
Basilisk, with a couple of settings adjustments in about:config.
If you'd like to try, here's what to do:
- FIRST -
Modify the value for the setting:
media.gmp-manager.url so that the reference to "
55.0 " in the string is changed to "
60.0 ".
This will ensure that you get the necessary version of Widevine (read more
here.).
1. To do this, first paste the following into the address bar, then hit enter:
Code: Select all
about:config?filter=media.gmp-manager.url
2. Right-click on the setting, and from the context menu select "
Modify".
Then paste the value below into the box that will pop up, and click "
OK":
Code: Select all
https://aus5.mozilla.org/update/3/GMP/60.0/%BUILD_ID%/%BUILD_TARGET%/%LOCALE%/%CHANNEL%/%OS_VERSION%/ %DISTRIBUTION%/%DISTRIBUTION_VERSION%/update.xml
3. Now open Basilisk's
Preferences to
Content (about:preferences#content) and tick the box next to "Play DRM content". This will make the Widevine plugin download and install.
4. Open the add-ons manager (about:addons, Ctrl+Shift+A), select
Plugins and check that Widevine is there. Click the blue link that says '
More' to check the version - it should be version
1.4.8.1008 (not 1.4.8.903).
- SECOND -
Change the value of Basilisk's hard-coded UA override for YouTube so that it refers to Firefox
60.0 (or higher), rather than Firefox
42.0.
1. In order to do this, paste the following into the address bar; hit Enter:
Code: Select all
about:config?filter=general.useragent.override.youtube.com
2. Now modify the value of the setting
general.useragent.override.youtube.com to the following string (paste it in the popup box):
Code: Select all
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0 Basilisk/52.9.2018.11.07
Now the video should play in Basilisk.
