Pale Moon 28: question for people using any locale different than "en-US"

Unread post by KNTRO » 2018-08-16, 22:48

Hello people from around the world!

I want to ask something to people who use Pale Moon in any locale, but en-US.

I have noted that Pale Moon 28's HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE header is just en-US,en;q=0.5. At least in the case of the es-AR locale. Can anyone test this, please?

Thanks in advance.

Where do you read this header?

¡Hola, José!

There are several webpages showing that header. One I use is HTTPinfo. You can also try My IP Address —it might take a little while to fully load that website though.

If it may help you

using the german language i have with the locale "de" for HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE de,en;q=0.7,es;q=0.3

perhaps it is interesting that i have three spellchecker dictionaries installed: german, english and spanish but only the german language pack for the browser.

This is what I got: es-MX,es-ES;q=0.9,es;q=0.8,en-GB;q=0.6,en-US;q=0.5,en;q=0.4,ru;q=0.3,ja;q=0.1

I manually added Russian and Japanese a long while ago. The others are the languages included in the es-MX, "es-MX, es-ES, es-AR, es, en-US, en-GB, en", with the exception of es-AR which maybe I deleted but I don't remember.

Maybe some add-on modified your list.

I confirm there is a bug here, see Issue #710 (UXP).

alex04, could you please provide a screenshot of your about:config?filter=intl.accept_languages ?

i have now reset this option and it says "sl,en-GB;q=0.7,en;q=0.3" on HTTPinfo. before the option was set to "sl"

Well, now restart the browser and intl.accept_languages will reset to "en-US, en" ... here is the bug

Then I guess this is a kind of race condition between libpref and the chrome://global/locale/intl.properties override, as in my case (and for the topic starter) intl.accept_languages always resets to "en-US, en". This requires further investigation.

AFAIK libpref is loaded up long before the chrome registry.

Perhaps you are right, but nevertheless in Tycho there was no such problem and libpref always successfully loaded the correct values from the language packs.

I just checked FF ESR52 and found it has the same problem, so now there's a long road with mozregression to find when and how Mozilla broke it

I use the en-GB language pack and my Accept-Language field says en-GB.
