Ok i have Lightscreen Portable from PortableApps.com on my sytem and I will use it for selection screenshots until I can replace Fireshot.

Lightscreen is really nice. Many thx.
I knew something like this had to exist but never took the time to find it. Now I don't have to.

Reduces my cumbersome multi-stage operation to a few clicks.
Here, I can crash it on demand by trying to change auto save options for date or timestamp but, big deal - I quickly decided that "save as" was a lot more efficient, naming on the fly.

Excellent piece of kit.

Nice, but far from fireshot. No scrolling capture (it's a must with a web page capture) and you need to open an external app. Much better option is to keep a Chrome window opened and use its fireshot extension (working really fine) when required.
Let me do again the question: what did Pale Moon developer do in last update to make fireshot unusable? Is it so difficult to reverse this option?

Many, many changes were made in the last update. It would be difficult to point at any single difference without taking a look at the add-on. The best place to start is the error console - see what errors occur in the add-on's code (hopefully there are some) and trace back from there.

I can imagine....but I'm not so prepared to make an investigation.
I love Pale Moon, really a petty, I'll follow my above solution waiting and hoping for future updates from both sides.
Thanks a lot for the kind replies ;)

(With a quick look) Fireshot 0.98.89 still looks to work in PM 28 (beta 5 on my end) simply by changing the install.rdf, the Firefox section.

Code: Select all

    <!-- Firefox -->
    <em:targetApplication>
      <Description>
        <em:id>{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}</em:id>
        <em:minVersion>17.0</em:minVersion>
        <em:maxVersion>*</em:maxVersion>
      </Description>
    </em:targetApplication>

Code: Select all

Old:          <em:maxVersion>49.*</em:maxVersion>

New:          <em:maxVersion>*</em:maxVersion>
Using 0.98.89, Capture Selection works without causing the entire browser to "jitter" like 0.98.93 does.
(Pretty odd affect, if I may say.)

Strange, I just installed Fireshot 0.98.89 and the selection option is still not working for me. It only greys out the screen and does nothing else.

@ Moonchild

In your post the image has a notation that you are using Fireshot 0.98.94.10.

There is no v0.98.94.10 on the AMO legacies webpage.
Versions run
0.98.93 | 5-Aug-2017 ... compatible with Fox v54.0.1 (64-bit)
0.98.94.11 | 22-Jan-2018 ... not suited for Fox v54.0.1 (64-bit)

Where did you find v0.98.94.10 ?

Palemoon is my regular browser ... v28.0.0 (32-bit) ... on a Win-7 PRO (64-bit) laptop

Sorry, update........after some well done operations, it stopped working and start having strange behavior. Strange indeed :thumbdown:

If you look at the screenshot again you will see that MC is using the paid PRO version of Fireshot.
I think it also requires an installed program. If that is incorrect please correct me.

Hello friends,

As a developer of the FireShot extension, I'm glad to say, that FireShot now officially supports Pale Moon (https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/take-page-screenshot)
I checked the report and found, that there's a strange browser behavior making the feature "Capture Selection" useless, so I made an investigation and found a temporary solution. The version 0.98.95.2 contains the code to override this strange behavior.

P.S. If developers are interested in this problem, which I'm certain is a bug in the browser code, I'll be glad to provide additional info. In brief, the browser is sending a strange payload to the mousemove event handler, which causes jitter, when the mode "Capture Selection" is launched. Additionally, there are some minor bugs, which I had to override too in the 0.98.95.2 release to make FireShot usable.

0.98.85 still working fine. 0/98.95.1 failed on selections. Will try the new upload.
