In addition to backing up certain individual files/folders like browser profiles etc, it's important/critical to backup your whole computer. A simple OS or other update or virus can trash everything. Macrium makes a good free disk image back up program. I keep the images, usually taken on updates, on 3.0 USB Flash drives. This way if your OS/files get wrecked or inaccessible you can boot in using a rescue disk and with your images can put your computer back to its exact state when you took the image if necessary and can grab individual things off it as well.
