PM Crashed and one of my monitors went pure blue

Unread post by floatingkeyboards » 2018-07-18, 10:54

I was writing something up in Microsoft word and I had about 4 Pale Moon browser windows opened. 3 of them where on youtube pages and one of the 3 was playing. Other than that, I just had a PDF opened in Microsoft Edge.

Then all of a sudden I lost the picture on both of my monitors and I could not hear the sound from the Youtube video. One of the monitors showed a medium tint solid blue color. I can't remember what showed on the other monitor but I think it had no picture (like how it looks when the monitor is off). This went on for about 2 or 3 seconds and then the Windows desktop came back to looking normal with everything looking about the same except that the Pale Moon program had exited.

1) I want to know if anyone else has experienced something like this or if this can be generalized (to where I could group this issue with other similar issues).

2) I understand that I could create some kind of a crash dump file (which could be useful in troubleshooting) but that there is some sensitive personal data compared therein. Is the sensitive data just data that's stored in the ram by the browser? (Would that be passwords to some sites? I would think some (most?) of that is just stored on my hard drive). My question is if I am running Pale Moon in private mode and I am not logged into any sites, and then I create the crash dump log, will that not contain any sensitive data? As an aside, I would trust some of the mods on this site.
Here is the info about creating the crash dump file

It sounds rather like a 0x117 TDR, where the graphics subsystem has encountered something like a logjam, perhaps the CPU has waited too long for *something* needed by the GPU, resulting in a graphics reset and screen redraw; check the Windows Management Events logs for details of what happened at that time.
