FWIW, a manual check for updates, just updated me from PM28 b3 to PM28 b3 ;-).

The unstable channel is a "rolling release" channel at heart. intermediate updates can and often will occur that aren't paired with a version bump.
I've tried to minimize this in the beta stages, but it'll still happen.
