PM and Craigslist: No "Reply"

I saw the other locked thread about this but was wondering if anything has changed since then with this issue. Regardless if I boot into safe mode or not whenever I click the "Reply" button on a Craigslist ad I get a popup msg, "Sorry, something went wrong". Works fine in IE or Edge but PM is my fave for years now. Is there a fix for this for PM? Thank you.

It works fine with the beta, currently Pale Moon 28.0.0b3.

I can't get the reply button to work in PM 27.9.3.

I can get it to work in PM 28.0.0.b3.

However - I need to turn my VPN off for it to work.

Here, with VPN activated, the reply button is broken in PM 28 and FF 60.

Doesn't seem to have anything to do with U/A.

FWIW, I tried my another PC running same version of PM. No extensions on that profile. Get the same response from PM.

Indeed, it does! Thank you. I usually don't run betas but you only die once, right! :D

It works fine with PM27. CL is just using some horrible user agent filtering. As seen in my attached pic my UA isn't even from a current or household name browser. AmigaVoyager/3.4.4 (MorphOS/PPC native). Oddly even a recent chrome/safari/firefox UA doesn't always work on CL, yet old obscure UA's do.

Using your, AmigaVoyager/3.4.4 (MorphOS/PPC native) (or any other) UA.

Some other Pref on your end that happens to allow it to work?

That's not my experience.

The CL reply button does work occasionally with PM 27.* - but not often or predictably.
This tends to muddy the waters.

Does it continue to work for you with repeated tries, say a dozen ?
(Refresh the page between each test, so that it won't redisplay the last test's results.)

It certainly didn't work for me at all using PM27 either.

Strange indeed. Yes, it works every time with old stale user agents. Just tried with IE9 UA and still worked. I've attached a pic with my extensions. Nothing out of the ordinary there. The only time CL reply doesn't work for me is with PM's default UA's or any current browser UA override. Anyway, wish it would've worked for you all, but i can say its working fine here.

Cheers

Secret Agent appears to affect Session Restore?
Not all tabs/windows restoring.
And on (manually) restoring a window that did not restore, its tabs were lost.
(Secret Agent definitely breaks Session Restore.)

Whitelist is not consistent.

I added *.craigslist.org (& sheboygan.craigslist.org) to the whitelist.
And set Whitelist Override to, Science Traveller International 1X/1.0.

Sometimes craigslist ended up in Stealth mode, sometimes in Whitelist mode.

Every once in a while, a very few times, Reply worked.
All other times, either "something went wrong" or (something else, don't recall offhand).

Sometimes hitting Reply caused the image to pop up.

I'm seeing no consistency when using that extension?

And I'm seeing no consistency in having Reply work.
Very few times has Reply actually worked (on my end).

(Finally, someone who actually put some miles, 69K, on their bike, https://sheboygan.craigslist.org/mcy/d/ ... 62253.html.)

Other then messing with Entropy, User Agents, & Whitelist, all other settings are at their defaults.

That is not what I see. (PM 27.9.3, Win 7 x86)

@wicknix, I installed your exact four extensions to a new profile.
Secret Agent (SA) proved to be the only one relevant here, so I won't mention the others further.
(Grain of salt: I don't have prior experience using SA, and am not knowledgeable about headers.)

Here is what i saw:
CL Reply button did work with many (not all) older user agents in SA's list... ONLY IF:
  1. SA was in Stealth Mode;
  2. And - It rotated user agents
    (User Agents tab > enable: "Rotate User Agent");
  3. And - It spoofed HTTP Via headers
(Proxy Headers tab > Stealth Mode section > enable: "Send Spoofed HTTP 'Via' headers").
Whenever the rotation happened to offer a useable user agent, you could take advantage of it.
However it was NOT possible to proactively pick a user agent and make it endure for Craigslist - and have the Reply button work.

SA's whitelisting was useless.
User agents that were helpful in Stealth Mode were ineffective if used via whitelisting.
The Reply button did not work if you whitelisted *.craigslist.org in order to use one of the "old stale user agents" for it's override (neither if whitelisted by itself, nor variously with *.gstatic.com, *.google.com, ocsp.digicert.com, ocsp.pki.goog -- all of which are domains for which SA changes the UA when you click the Reply button on Craigslist.)

Adding a UA override directly, independent of extensions.
Adding a UA override to PM 27.9.3 directly, independent of extensions (with one of the "old stale useragents") did not make the CL Reply button work.

Well, I changed over to the latest beta release and Craigslist reply button was working as it should. Not now. I changed nothing else, no addons, etc.. so either Craigslist changed something or.....? IDK.

The latest beta works properly for me with Craigslist's reply button.
Clear cache/cookies, refresh the page, and make sure you're not blocking anything from Google or gstatic, in addition to Craigslist.

@coffeebreak: Yep, you got me. Apparently i was lucky the first 10-15 times. Now i've run in to a few instances where it didn't work. However, mostly working is better than not working at all. It doesn't take much to reload the page until a stale UA works. At any rate, PM28 and beyond is the future anyway.

Cheers

Ditto.
