Websites not displaying properly

Unread post by zkd001 » 2018-06-24, 15:07

For a while now, nba.com has not been displaying properly in Pale Moon. Specifically, the banner on the left showing the games is not displayed in Pale Moon, but shows up in Firefox. In the most recent version of Pale Moon, I also have an issue with http://www.theticket.com/2016/06/15/podcasts/ On that website, you choose a clip to play, and then you should see a progress bar to show you how far into the clip you are. With the newest version of Pale Moon, the progress bar no longer shows up.

Operating system: Windows 7 x64
Browser version: 27.9.3
32-bit or 64-bit?: 32 bit
Theme: default
Installed extensions: Adblock Latitude (disabling doesn't help)
Installed plugins: (about:plugins): Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Flash 29, Adobe Flash 30, Citrix Receiver, Silverlight

Confirmed.
Note that you can scroll, jump back & forth through the clip, you just can't see "where you are" ;-).
(FF38 will not play that site at all. FF38 hardly displays that site.)
Edit: Ignore that. That was my doing. FF 38 displays the site just like PM 27.

That site's has just switched to a new podcast platform, "Omny Studio". Maybe that has something to do with Pale Moon.

Just curious. Why do you have the plugins for Flash 29 and Flash 30 installed? Keeping old versions installed with newer versions installed of a plugin sometimes causes conflicts.

Since both of these issues seems to be non-existent in Pale Moon UXP (latest unstable), there's really no point in reporting them.
Try for yourself:

Color me confused?

Is PM 27 an EOL product?
And what, you're suggesting, to a seemingly brand new (no less) user (at least per Forum post count) to forgo the current release version of the PM browser?

Is PM unstable an alpha product?
And suggesting the he instead use an alpha product?

Just where does the release of PM unstable (PM 28) stand, time wise?
(Yes, I know, when it's done.)
But what does that look like?

@jars_

On my end, it looks like it displays if you refresh the page.
(Likewise you get a door-hanger type of thing asking about sharing location, or some such.)

https://omny.fm/shows/the-ticket-top-10 ... le=artwork

Seems that other browsers (including FF38) are using html5 (I'm pretty sure).
(I still have not gotten the waveform to display in FF38.)
PM is using Flash.

Maybe it is hit or miss as to whether PM displays the waveform or not?

PM will use html5 - if Flash is disabled.

(And in that respect, why is Flash enabled, by default, Always, in PM?)

@badnick, maybe that is some sort of "geo" block? What country are you in?

Pale Moon v27.9.0 Release notes wrote:This is the last major development update for the v27 milestone (codenamed "Tycho").
After this, we will be focusing our efforts for new features entirely on UXP and the new v28 milestone building on it.
We will continue to support v27.9 with security and stability updates for a while, but no major new features will be added from this point forward.

Wow! I didn't expect to get so many replies, and so quickly. Thanks all for looking at this.

Night Wing, I have no idea why I have 2 versions of flash installed. I thought it was a bit weird too when I saw it. It wasn't an intentional act by me to install both at the same time. I tried to disable the older one, and it appears that they are linked together somehow; disabling one also disables the other.

Tomaso, Thanks for confirming that it works in the next version, but I don't really want to use beta software. For now, I'll probably just use Firefox for these select websites until the next version of Pale Moon is officially released.

Looks like for the podcast site, the progress thing is shown for some people, so I'll play around with it some more to see if I can get it to show on my end.

Not showing in either PM latest or Fx 60 ESR. The latter is (almost) untouched from new.

I don't know if this will solve your problem, but since you say both versions of Flash 29 and 30 seem to be linked together, this could be a problem. Since they are linked, why don't you un-install both versions of Flash 29 and 30. After both versions of Flash have been un-installed, then re-install Flash (30.0.0.113). Then check to see if Flash 29 is not listed and only Flash 30 is installed. See if this helps with your situation.

They are "linked together", in that disabling "one" version from within PM disables both.
In that, when situations like this exist, you cannot, from within PM, selectively disable only one version of Flash.

And yes, uninstall/reinstall would be the typical course of action.
