Installing NanoDefender to stop anti adblocking?

Unread post by Drew99GT » 2018-05-27, 23:50

https://jspenguin2017.github.io/uBlockP ... ock-origin

Is there a way to get that to work with Palemoon and Ublock Origin??? The problem is Palemoon doesn't know how to handle the filter lists when I click on them! I get this message: "Pale Moon doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (ubo) isn't associated with any program."

Thanks!

NanoDefender is a WebExtension that needs Firefox 57/58+. The developer has no interest in supporting PM, Basilisk, Waterfox.
Win10home(1709), PM33.1.0-portable as of Apr 23, '24

You might want to try the final update of the same developer's AAK-Contd.

This is a Gitlab page with links to both userscripts and filterlists, for uBO and non-uBO adblockers:

You can simply import the required lists manually by opening the uBlock Origin Dashboard > Filter lists > check Import at bottom > add list location then click Apply changes.

Modified instructions:

Step 1. This step is not necessary as current uBlock Origin releases already include the Adblock Warning Removal List. Just make sure it's enabled.

For reference, install the latest uBlock Origin legacy build compatible with Pale Moon here: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/relea ... acy-1.16.4
Then install uBlock Origin Updater for Pale Moon here: https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/ublock0-updater/

Step 2. Import the Nano Defender Integration filter list:

Code: Select all

https://cdn.rawgit.com/NanoAdblocker/NanoFilters/master/NanoMirror/NanoDefender.txt
Step 3. Go to uBlock Origin Dashboard, select Settings tab, check "I am an advanced user", click the gears that show up, replace "unset" after "userResourcesLocation" with:

Code: Select all

https://cdn.rawgit.com/NanoAdblocker/NanoFilters/master/NanoFilters/NanoResources.txt
Step 4. Install Nano filters:

Code: Select all

https://cdn.rawgit.com/NanoAdblocker/NanoFilters/master/NanoFilters/NanoBase.txt
Step 5. Install Nano filters - Whitelist:

Code: Select all

Correction, Nano Adblocker is the WebExtension / Chrome extension. Nano Defender is a set of resources that can work with either Nano Adblocker or uBlock Origin.

Nano Defender exists along the same vein as uAssets for uBO and uMatrix.

Thanks so much Halesun!

However, I still get anti-adblock messages from certain websites like Business Insider. Ughhh, I don't know if I need to reinstall Palemoon or what. But thanks for the detailed instructions, I did learn something new!

You can try this addon. It works on most news sites I visit.

I use uBO and don't get an anti-adblock message from Business Insider
(no matter how long I stay on the site, nor how many articles I click).

Some thoughts...

UBO has a redirect filter to neutralize Business Insider's anti-adblock (discussion is in uAssets here).
This filter is in the " uBlock filters " list, so before anything else make sure that list is selected:

To observe that this redirect filter is active, open the logger and filter on " fuckadblock ".
If it's active, the logger will show this:

Finally, if you accept BI cookies, delete them and start fresh.
Be aware that Business Insider sets a cookie to indicate whether you use an adblocker. If that cookie's content = true, it tells BI that you block its ads. But if the redirect script is active, the cookie's content will = false.
