Re: validity of profile backups
Profiles are almost always compatible between minor version changes but generally not across milestone changes. So, for example, you can expect some hiccups if you try to use your current profile (v27) with UXP based upcoming Pale Moon 28.
Re: validity of profile backups
I can confirm this, as I tried to move my profile over to Basilisk and it completely borked it. Mind you though,So, for example, you can expect some hiccups if you try to use your current profile (v27) with UXP based upcoming Pale Moon 28.
Basilisk is not PM 28 either so it may not be that bad once it's completely ready. But still, moving a profile over
on a major mile stone is iffy at best. I'm sure that there will be issues and we'll cross those bridges when we get there.

And a LOT of users will complain about that without reading "Manual Intervention Required" warnings as always happens!

Re: validity of profile backups
Perhaps this time everything will not be so painful. I'm using 28.0a1 with a profile from 27.9 as the primary browser for a week already and it works almost perfectly

It will be available on the unstable channel as soon as it is ready.

If you don't want to wait (although from Moonchild's post it sounds like the wait won't be long), you can clone the UXP repository, add to your mozconfig, and .
Code: Select all
ac_add_options --enable-application=palemoon
Code: Select all
mach build
Re: validity of profile backups
I'm excited. This will be the first time I have played around with any of their "unstable builds"

Re: validity of profile backups
Moonchild wasn't kidding, though; the unstable channel on Tycho is mostly pretty stable, whereas Pale Moon 28(.0.0a2) definitely has some problems still. I'd use a separate profile, yadda, yadda.
