YouTube can't keep quality settings after update to 27.9.0
After I've updated Pale Moon from 27.8.2 to 27.9.0 (Windows 7HP/64bit), YouTube stopped to remember set video quality (I set it at 720p, and it always worked, when available). Now it reverts everytime to Automatic 360p.

For me, it defaults to "Auto 480p".
When switching to fullscreen, it wrongfully says "Auto 1080p", when in reality it's still at 480p.
Switching quality manually works just fine though.
Perhaps someone can figure out a new UA override that takes care of this issue?

I'm still getting Auto HD @ 1920x1080x60: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lJcv0V ... be&t=1m56s
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:42.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0 PaleMoon/27.9.0
Native UA, with MSE selected for all but WebM video.

Are you sure that you aren't just experiencing the same misinformation that I described in my previous post?satrow wrote:I'm still getting Auto HD @ 1920x1080x60
That part doesn't matter, because of the override.satrow wrote:Native UA

YouTube High Definition works to keep the quality at the highest rather than the lowest. You can get it here:

No.Goodydino wrote:YouTube High Definition works to keep the quality at the highest rather than the lowest.
The last version of that extension, which worked with Pale Moon, was v52.0.7.
..and even that version needed to be modified, to bypass a built-in time limit.
It doesn't matter anymore though, since that version is useless now, and doesn't do anything to help with the issue that we're discussing here.

Stats for nerds and the hammering of my 12Mbps connection agreed with my initial visual check, so yes, I'm sure.Tomaso wrote:Are you sure that you aren't just experiencing the same misinformation that I described in my previous post?satrow wrote:I'm still getting Auto HD @ 1920x1080x60
I wasn't logged in; maybe there's a difference between logged in and out, depending on your prefs settings?
Re: YouTube can't keep quality settings after update to 27.9.0
I've never logged on to YouTube.
Re: YouTube can't keep quality settings after update to 27.9.0
Youtube works just fine for me. It will automatically switch resolution depending on the size of the displayed viewport (if the video has higher res) and confirming with the network/stats indicates that yes, the considerably sharper image isn't my imagination.

I've tried several times again today, and can confirm that it works now.
It's strange, because I'm certain that it didn't work the last time I tried it!
It's very easy to tell when the quality changes.

Re: YouTube can't keep quality settings after update to 27.9.0
No. It's still not working as it was before. As I said, I had quality set at 720p and all videos started to load in 720p, regardless of anything. Now all start at that annoying Automatic setting; even if I set one particular video to 720p, it will fall back to Automatic next time, if I close YouTube and start it again.
Maybe it's just a coincidence, but it all started in the exact moment I updated Pale Moon to 27.9.0.

It's probably something Google changed.

Re: YouTube can't keep quality settings after update to 27.9.0
There is a reason there are a bunch of scripts and extensions made to automatically set youtube quality to whatever you want. I even made one myself.Kerebron wrote:Now all start at that annoying Automatic setting; even if I set one particular video to 720p, it will fall back to Automatic next time, if I close YouTube and start it again.
Re: YouTube can't keep quality settings after update to 27.9.0
As a side note, You could use www.hooktube.com as it not only keeps your settings but also allows you to load the whole video instead of
Youtube's new buffering system. It's basically a front end loader for Youtube.
I have no affiliation with them but I do use them almost all the time now due to the way Youtube has changed the way their site works.
It will play all video's available at Youtube and has the look of the older Youtube. Just a thought.
