Pale Moon forum

Video problems not apparent on other browsers. Printer error quite recent ("An error occurred while printing.") , prints fine on Chrome and from Thunderbird.
HP8610 / Pavilion D7 / Windows 10 Home / 64K
Tried two earlier versions, no luck. (This has only been happening for a couple of weeks.) Ideas?

Does this from any URL (or do I not understand what you're asking?).

Please post an example URL (regardless if the issue occurs with all URL's) and explain in more precise detail what it is, step-by-step, that your are attempting to print also in more precise detail. Doing so will better explain the problem and provide a way to test one specific site as far as each step you take that results in the issue you describe as a "printer error". Your explanation seems a bit vague, so without more specific details it is difficult to address your concerns. Thanks.

I have no idea how to do what you ask. I would have liked to print (from this page) what you wrote for reference, so I hit ctrl-P, get the printer pop-up box, hit print and it starts to operate normally, then a box appears that says Printer Error at the top, and below a rounded yellow triangle with an exclamation mark and the message: "An error occurred while printing." This began after one of the last two upgrades to Pale Moon. It prints from my email, Edge, or Chrome with no problem. IN the past, deleting the printer and reinstalling it has solved similar problems, but have never seen anything like this before, and it is intransigent to all my efforts so far. The video problems have been going on for some time. Also not a problem on other browsers.

What he is asking you for with the printer issue, is for you to post an example URL or link to a page that gives you a problem when you try to print it even if it is any URL or page. So if you are referencing this page as a problem you would post the url using the copy/paste technique:

Now similarly video wise, please provide an example of a video that has a problem or does not play. Saying that most videos do not play/have a problem and other browsers play it fine tells us very little. Find an example of a video that has a problem in Pale Moon, copy the URL of the video and paste it here in your next post. Use the copy/paste technique. Then, after you've done that, explain exactly what the problem is with the video. Does the video not play at all? Is there any error message when it does not play? Are there videos that do play correctly since you said "most videos" not all videos? Feel free to add a screenshot if you think it will help.

Specifics.

Did you look at the link I provided for you about video problems in Windows 10? It's a very quick check and fix if it is the problem and can save a lot of time.

I just tried this with latest version of PM on Windows 10 and it prints fine for me. I've never had to delete/uninstall my HP printer and reinstall it after using it on any page or site, browser or email system to get it to work.

Some more questions:

1. What version of Pale Moon are you using (help/about Pale Moon)?
2. What extensions, plugins and theme (add-ons) do you have installed on Pale moon?

You can try restarting PM in safe mode disabling add-ons or try a new profile to see if issue still exists as examples.

Thanks for the additional information. Now that you have better described your printer problem -- I can say as well that I'm not having any problem printing this page on Windows 7 using Pale Moon version 27.8.2 myself just as tenseys is not on Windows 10. To be clear, I get the following message when doing so: Possibly you are getting confused by the "Title" that is displayed in the "Printing" progress GUI -- this does not mean there is a "Printer error...". This message is simply to inform you that what you requested, CTRL+P, is doing what you requested -- that is printing the current forum page with that title.

Do you see this same message as the screen-shot I have posted when you do the CTRL+P?

If so then your request is getting sent to your printer so there is not problem with Pale Moon. You might check your system out as to why the printer is not working i.e. printer default settings that you have for your computer and/or whether the printer is "active" and able to print as far as settings in your OS or the printer itself and make sure the printer itself is not producing an error.

Please also followup with the other questions asked and suggestions posted by tenseys as well if need be. We cannot help regarding your reference to video problems without additional information. Or possibly what I've posted above addresses what you have thought was a video and printer problem using CTRL+P and by checking on your printer configuration setup the issue can or has been resolved.

Stupid error on my part, it appears. Fixed my problem and changed defaults. I fixed the problem by reselecting my printer on Ctrl-P (had somehow deselected it for a generic). Now I'll go back to the video problem. Thanks for the responses.
