Plugin Container Fails in PM 28.8.0

Unread post by beansandfranks » 2018-03-02, 21:54

Hi Folks,

I have been a PM user for years. Love it! Recommend it to others.
Thanks to Markus and others who contribute. Your work is greatly appreciated!

PM is very helpful in a Silverlight app in websites. Example: freestockcharts.com

I have been using PM at that website successfully for years. All works well.

Anyway, today I updated to PM 28.8.0 32bit and afterward, the Plug-in Container failed on that website. It also lost all my saved formats.

Forced me to uninstall 28.8.0 and reinstall 27.7.2 32bit. I'm in the midst of recreating all my saved Silverlight formats in freestockcharts.com

I run a Windows 7 64bit OS and am very careful in updating the OS (gotta be with Microsoft! ;<))

When the Plugin Container failed, I allowed the software to send the info back to you guys.

Hopefully this issue can be resolved.

Again, I very much appreciate all you hard work.

BF

I clicked on the Freestocks link using 64 bit "linux" Pale Moon 27.8.0 and when I tried to use the free version, I received a prompt asking me to use a different browser.

The solutions it gave for me were:

1) Download the newest version of TC2000 version 17 for Windows
2) Or use Internet Explorer

So it looks to me like this site is only accessible for the Windows operating system since it doesn't like my linux distro and also wedded to Internet Explorer. Might be doing user agent sniffing in Windows.

Night Wing,

I am well aware of those options. The download ultimately requires a payment.

The free version requires Silverlight to run. Been using that version for years. Firefox used to enable Silverlight (no more). IE does, but bleeeh! -- IE! Naaah
PM was the decent browser to allow Silverlight to run.

It's likely related to the NSS issue we'll be releasing a point update for.

"Seek wisdom, not knowledge. Knowledge is of the past; wisdom is of the future." -- Native American proverb
"Linux makes everything difficult." -- Lyceus Anubite

Markus,

Thanks for your reply here.
I just updated to the new Pale Moon, and all seems to be working fine now with PM appearing to play nice with Silverlight.
So maybe the NSS issue was the solution.

Thanks again for all your great work!
