Is there a way to tie the first two tabs together?

Post by Pallid Planetoid » 2018-02-09, 08:09

I would like to open new tabs directly to the right of the current tab (Which "insert related tab next to the current one" provides) but with one exception. The one exception would be if I'm on the first tab then I would like the new tab to open next to the tab directly next to the first tab in that case.

In essence I want the first two tabs to stay together at all times and still be able to open all other tabs next to the current tab.

My goal is to "tie" the first two tabs together because I want to open them together as a pair of start-up pages when the browser loads --- so I ultimately have two start-up pages that I want to be kept together (never separate these first two tabs)....

Is there a way to do this (presumably if possible via a pref setting or an add-on)?

Thanks! :)

Does pinning them work?

Pinning them keeps them together but I can't figure out how to get focus on the first pinned tab so the browser will load on that page. I've tried leaving a start-page out of "Home page" but no matter what I get another tab opens in some way as a "start page" instead of just opening the two pinned tabs with the browser loading the first pinned tab so that is what I see when starting the browser.

Since the browser will always want to open one page or another that is not pinned what I can do is a sort of work-around by pinning the one page that I do not want the browser to open as the start page and then assign the page I do want the browser to open by default as the page in the "Home page" value in preferences.

Only problem is if I want to use the alternate start-page (which sits in front of the default start-page) then all of the links from that alternate start page starts opening pages in front of the default start-page eventually sending it off to a place where it's difficult to find -- so I pretty much have the same problem.

So either way the two pages get separated if I use the alternate start-page (in front of the default). At least since the secondary start-page will be used less often this way is better than just leaving the two pages in a normal state.

Not exactly as I envisioned it but will will have to do if no other alternative is found.

So thanks SpockMan02 for the idea of trying the "pin" tab option[/b] Not exactly a solution but may have to do (I kind of figured there would not be a way to combine the first two tabs together as I described).

Hm, yeah, I can't think of a better way.
