[Solved] Browser reacts very slowly.

Post by Hellotoyou » 2012-12-15, 15:01

Hello,

I had the very same version of Palemoon(15.3.2) running on Win XP 32bit SP3 without any problems, but reinstalling to Win XP 64bit SP3 has caused the browser to become quite laggy.

If I move the mouse inside the browser window on a webpage it takes 10secs for the item the pointer is on to get marked, same as when scrolling via pg up, down, end, home. Especially when opening add ons causes a long delay(30sec-1min) and then further delay inside add on menus moving the mouse around.

Do not have any always-on antivirus running(same as on 32bit). Have tried turning off firewall entirely and just opening browser offline(set it to start with a blank page) and opening add ons, and still have same behavior.

Have read 64bit browser version does not support XP, so haven't tried that.

Am not sure what else to include in this post. Am using pretty much identical setup as before reinstall, except changing from 32bit to 64bit XP.

Please check to make sure your video drivers are up to date, that you have installed all windows updates, and that you have installed the latest available version of the DirectX runtime on your system that is available for XP. If that isn't any help, please include the output of Help -> troubleshooting information in your reply.

Oh no. Turns out it was an outdated graphics driver. Thought I was running the latest, picked myself manually, but chose to let amddriverdownloader pick for me this time and it chose a different driver. All works very nicely now. Sorry to have wasted your time.
