How to import the Firefox profile into Palemoon ?
Hello everyone,
With the release of Firefox 57 and it's awful new design, i'm searching a new browser to replace it.
When i started Palemoon, it didn't asked to import my profile from Firefox. And if i do it manually (copy/paste with Firefox and Palemoon closed), it freeze at start, including during safe mode with everything disabled.
I believe I have done something wrong, or probably not right. But if i can copy my bookmarks and my passwords into a new profile, i won't mind at all.
Any idea how to do that ?
Thanks in advance,
Frederic.

I would recommend starting with a fresh new profile, it's tedious, but a better option. You can import your last bookmark .json file from your FX profile (they're in the bookmarkbackups folder).Frederic09 wrote:But if i can copy my bookmarks and my passwords into a new profile, i won't mind at all.

Your password files key3.db and logins.json can be copied from your FX profile too. These are your password files.

Confirming that the method outlined by @LAR Grizzly worked.
Here are more detailed instructions for anyone on the same track:
Go to (Firefox Profile Folder)\bookmarkbackups
Copy the latest file to the desktop (or memorize the location)
Pale Moon / Bookmarks / Organize Bookmarks
Top Menu / Import and Backup / Choose File
That's it!

Re: How to import the Firefox profile into Palemoon ?
(Sorry if this should have been posted as a new topic, but it's directly related to the topic in question here, so I hope it's okay.)
I'm in the same situation regarding moving (read: running away screaming) from Firefox & wanting to move my bookmarks/etc into Pale Moon. I understand how to get the bookmarks transferred (as per above instructions) but am unclear on if this same method also works for the "key3.db" & "logins.json" files. As in, are those files also imported via the "Bookmarks/ Organize Bookmarks/ etc" procedure outlined here, or do they require a different "pathway"?
In case it matters, I'm still (happily) on W7 Home Premium SP 1 64-bit.
(Using the 32-bit Pale Moon as per recommendations I saw on the forums.)

They are not imported. You will need to manually copy them from your FX profile into your new PM profile. You need both files for your passwords.Zirconia Wolf wrote:As in, are those files also imported via the "Bookmarks/ Organize Bookmarks/ etc" procedure outlined here, or do they require a different "pathway"?
Copy both files from FX profile here: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
Paste both files here: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Moonchild Productions\Pale Moon\Profiles

Re: How to import the Firefox profile into Palemoon ?
Thanks everyone for your answers... and especially LAR Grizzly who gave the best solution.
The most important stuff to transfer were my bookmarks and my login/passwords.
I am now using Palemoon as my default browser.
And I'm sorry for the delay, i just forgot to activate the reply notifications.
Now it's time for me to finish to configure the profile.
