That does not make sense. If you wish to switch to Pale Moon from Firefox, simply copying the profile should work. I cannot help with that as I am not on Windows, but let us know and someone will be able to give you exact steps.

Pale Moon updates automatically on Windows systems. You can also manually check for updates by accessing "Help" > "About Pale Moon" from menu.

I know how to update palemoon, but I was trying to download an addon on palemoon but it tells me that my firefox version is too old!

You may try add-on installation using Moon Tester Tool.
Please note that this is for advanced users only and instalation of an incompatible add-on may break your browser.

BTW, which add-on are you trying to install? Maybe try an older version which is compatible with Pale Moon.

firefox and palemoon are 2 different browsers with a common ancestor.
How do you normally update firefox?

Sometimes if you look through the older versions, there might be one that says it's okay for Pale Moon. Or try some older versions that say they work in your version of Firefox. They might not install directly. In that case download the .xpi and then try to install it to Pale Moon.

video_downloader_professional-1.97.37-fx installs fine in Pale Moon. You might need to download the .xpi and manually install it.

1_click_youtube_video_download-2.4.1-sm+fx installs fine.

I tested both on Youtube and both are pretty useless - probably because Youtube splits loads of vids into 2 streams nowadays. Even if it worked, I wouldn't like the first one - it looks a bit spammy. I suspect the second one is useless anyway...

I use Video Downloadhelper. If a file is in 2 streams it prompts you to install a converter, which apparently works but is slow. I get round this by only downloading low quality from youtube, if at all.

I'm pretty sure there is a decent vid downloader which gets round the problem of youtube splitting files, but I forget what it is. Perhaps a forum search for video downloader will find it. I don't know.

NetVideoHunter works well in Pale Moon and I never run into a splitting issue on YouTube.

You're welcome! I dumped VideoDownloadHelper when the old format changed. I've been using NetVideoHunter ever since. It's a nice add-on.
