[Solved] bookmarks dialog box missing

Post by VBobier » 2012-11-29, 06:24

I used to use Firefox Nightly 12.0a1 x64 as My default browser, It had a popup dialog box, 15.3 does not, instead the newly saved bookmarks are all unsorted, will this be fixed?

If you click the star to bookmark a page, it will be "quick-bookmarked" added to "unsorted". If you click the star a second time, you can edit/sort the bookmark (you will get the popup dialog).

If you press Ctrl+D to bookmark, you will immediately get the dialog.

I just tried that Ctrl+D on a page that I've never bookmarked, the popup didn't work, It just made an unsorted bookmark, this is 15.3-x64 of Palemoon under Win 7 Pro x64.

My extensions:
Adblock Plus 2.2.1
Add to Amazon wishlist button 1.10
Compact Menu 2 4.3.1
Flagfox 4.2.3
Tab Mix Plus 0.4.0.3
TimeLineRemove.com 1.0.5

My appearance:
FT DeepDark 4.8.3

My plugins:
Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.90.5 10.9.2.5
Java (TM) Platform SE 7 U9 10.9.2.5
Shockwave Flash 11.5.502.110
Silverlight Plug-In 5.1.10411.0

I am running the same OS as you and using 15.3 X64 Ctrl-D works as it should. First disable all your extensions and appearance (or restart in safe mode) and try again.

Ok I don't know how to restart in safe mode, I don't see anything other than a link to Palemoon. So how do I do that? And yes I searched for that option first.

Start the browser holding SHIFT depressed to get the safe mode startup dialog allowing you to start in safe mode, among other things.

Your custom theme/appearance may be part of the issue, here.

Yeah, that theme and Compact Menu 2, either one by themselves interfere. sigh.

Is there a way to enable shift-D via the right click on the "bookmark this page"? It just seems easier to use to Me, as I'm not a command line type, unless I really need to that is.

Never mind, I just tried bookmark this page and the box popped up.

I've left a message for Missy who's the author of Compact Menu 2 and sent an email to Stefano of the problem with the FT DeepDark 4.8.3 theme. The theme author will probably fix this problem asap as I've emailed Him in the past, as to Missy, I've no idea.

FT DeepDark 5.13 and 5.4 work partly and don't interfere with Ctrl-D, the Dialog boxes come up with no background of their own, of course the author says that He does not support Palemoon... No word yet on Compact Menu, yet, Her site is all in Japanese and the latest version of Compact Menu 2 is just over 1 year old now.

I've substituted NASA Night Launch 0.6.20121115 and that works perfectly, and It looks a lot like FT DeepDark and works better, it does support Ctrl-D correctly, so I've tossed FT DeepDark... So that only leaves Compact Menu 2...

Also I've substituted Tiny Menu 2.0.4 for Compact Menu 2 for the time Being, Ctrl-D works in this extension too. So this is solved.

Just a question - why do you need Tiny/Compact Menu? You can just tap Alt and the menu toolbar pops up.

Cause I may not remember to do so, so I like it nice & compact.
