rogpmu wrote:badnick, the video in your link posted immediately above plays in Firefox but not in Pale Moon. Unfortunatley, getting nowhere with this problem in Pale Moon.

Running out of ideas as I`ve tried to sort it out myself. :problem:
I'm on Windows 10 Windows Fall Creators Update and that video plays just fine.

There should be a problem in your specific PM setup or combination of hardware/codecs and that setup.

I tried too clear all cookies from msn.com domain and the videos now starts instantly both with and without uBlock enabled.

I think the video playback issue on msn.com is caused by uBlock Origin which I use myself. In uBlock allow 3rd-party scripts like here:
Clipboard-2.png
This will allow 3rd-party scripts, but only on msn.com domain.
Remember too click the little padlock too make this dynamic rule permanent. Hopefully that will work better than clearing the cookies. With this little setting I was able too play the videos with only a very small delay.

I also get the "We're sorry, but your browser does not support this video. Please install Adobe Flash version 10 or later." message. I have Adobe Flash 27...

(here: https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/celebrity/jenny-mccarthy-details-alleged-casting-couch-experience-with-steven-seagal-%E2%80%98it-just-so-grossed-me-out%E2%80%99/ar-BBEMGfF?li=BBoPJKU )

Windows 10 Pro and PM 27.6.0 (x86).

Also, animated GIFs (or MP4 videos?) are not playing in Facebook or on Giphy: (or elsewhere, I think)

This has occurred with the latest update.

(both linked pages work in ALL of the current "top" 5 major browsers)

tried

I dunno about the latency - I am not sure whether the screen that come up is *meant* to play, but when I click the top Item in the playlist, it starts in a few secs... :? I t may have been loading in back ground??

In london, england :coffee: on Win7 SP1, VM 150MBPS, on core I7 3GHz PC! :ugeek: 8-)

I have the 'Toggle animated GIFS' addon, to stop the mania, but Giphy :? may see this.. - Right click, you will find a 'play' item to move the gif! it! :)

I find flash plays on 'normal' websites... youtube and others use tons of JS, etc that does not help it 'get through'...

the normal flash downloader quite often crashes, so try this help, that includes a PROPER link to get flash (no guarantees, its quite old! :P )
VM 300Mbs in london england  :coffee: on Intel Core I7 3GHz on Gigabyte X58a.
PM 32.4.1(64bit) on win7(64bit) sp1 - does ytoobe better than FF!! 8-) :P
Got 24Gig, Nvidia GTX 1060 :D dont need 4k - not rich, not gamer, newer GPUs only for $$$ peeps
:eh: useragentstring(com) :problem: FF 115.3.1  :P

Many thanks to those who have posted. It`s heartening to know I`m not the only one with this problem as I had began to think I had caused theproblem by some unkown reason.

@ Morten 79 I disabled uBlock Origin all to no avail - videos would still not play.

I clicked on "I am an advanced user" and changed a few settings -including Allow 3rd-party scripts but still videos did not work so changed them back to where they were.

Any guidance on what to tick/change in uBlockOrigin would be very much appreciated.

Video plays for me immediately:
video plays as soon as I click on the play button.png
without delay - just as soon as I click on the play (arrow) button:
video plays with play button pressed.png
I use uBo, but did not need to make any changes, these are the 3rd-party filters I use in uBo:
uBo 3rd-party filters.png
If that helps.

What I noticed here is that videos seems to don't start untill the buffer is complete (for the entire video).

You might try turning autoplay on, if it isn't already.
These MSN vids play for me, but I found it necessary to enable that first.

In about:config set

Code: Select all

media.autoplay.enabled = true
media.autoplay.allowscripted = true

I restarted in Safe Mode with no addons and it didn't make a difference.

Operating system:
Name: Windows 10 (build 15063), 64-bit edition
Version: 10.0
Platform: 64-bit system
CPU features: sse sse2 sse3 ssse3 sse4.1 sse4.2 avx avx2 aes pclmulqdq rdrnd bmi2 bmi2 adx
RAM: 8 GB

Everything worked fine in the previous version.

PM 27.6.0 (32-bit)

I use 32-bit so I can use addons that don't work in 64-bit. (I think)

This worked for me, I just need to disable Adblock Latitude.

Mine were already set to TRUE by DEFAULT.

Still doesn't work.

Also, the drop-down notifications in Facebook don't work anymore.
It just shows an animated "working" image and never fills the drop-down.

You mean like this:
FB drop-down.png
Apparently I do not have any problem if you are talking about the FB list drop-down illustrated in this screen-shot (using Pale Moon 27.6.0 [32-bit] in Windows 7)

It looks like perhaps the blocking of scripts is causing your problem. Make sure you do not have an add-on that might be interfering.

I take it you've tested MSN videos using safe mode (based on past post).... Have you tried clearing cache and/or cookies for MSN? (I've retained the full conversation string to provide context but compressed it to save space).

looks like I forgot the link to 'full download' of flash' (the standard one just downloads a 'loader' that often fails!! :( ) Full downloader and help here..

https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb ... ars_header

It looks like it may be poor bandwidth / slow pc with low memory?? Have you got at least 2Gb??
do you have a friend with a laptop running win7 sp1 etc to come to your home and see if it works on your ISP???
