Pale Moon 15.3 issue with F-Secure PC Protection

Post by Daedalon » 2012-11-17, 13:55

Updating to 15.3 causes an unwanted side effect when running F-Secure PC Protection (anti-virus and firewall). On most page loads it asks for the permission for Pale Moon to connect to the internet, often multiple times, regardless of checking or not checking the "Don't ask again for this program". On one site I stopped counting after answering the dialog 10 times and my estimate is that it got asked a total of about 20 times - on each page load, nothing less.

This is the first time this has happened with any version of any program. Reverting to Pale Moon 15.2.1 removed the issue, so my guess is that this has something to do with using Visual Studio 2012.

Until this is remedied, F-Secure users experiencing this issue are stuck with 15.2.1 until a security vulnerability is found, in which case the only safe and usable option would be switching browsers. Just in case it comes down to this I'd like to ask this already:

Is there a tool to migrate from Pale Moon to Firefox?

You should contact the vendor of your security software (F-secure) and ask them to look into this. You may also have to make a specific exclusion in F-Secure until they have solved this issue. False positives unfortunately happen, which is what this sounds like.

There is no migration tool available to migrate a profile from Pale Moon to Firefox, but you can manually copy the profile across or (might be easier) use Sync.
