Changing from 32 to 64 bit

Unread post by Richard423956 » 2017-08-20, 21:12

I'm new here so excuse my asking what may be available elsewhere.
After accidentally installing 64 bit on my older laptop and finding it works fine.
What is involved in changing the version on my Win 7 desktop from 32 to 64 bit.
I have a backup of my 32 bit that is current and was made with Pale Moon Backup.
Can I just uninstall 32 bit, install 64 bit and use the same backup...or will I even need it.
Or can I install 64 bit over the 32 bit ?

32-bit and 64 bit use different application folders, so what you should do is uninstall 32-bit, but do NOT check the checkbox to remove your data. Then install 64-bit, and it will pick up your existing profile.

Hi Moonchild

And I am now running 64 bit.
Thank You very Much for the information.
In just the last few days I have switched from Firefox to Pale Moon.
It seems the competition is taking a direction that I don't like with the removal
of customization. I use only a few extensions but they make Pale Moon
what your competition will soon not be.

I'm very pleased with Pale Moon.

Again, Thank You
Richard
