Anyone know why Pale Moon acting different for Windows Default Programs in Control Panel?
I have been able to access the check-boxes in the screen-shot below, I now find that in the case of Pale Moon I am unable to change any of them --- but still can in any other browser including FF:
Addendum: If FF is set as default browser I can change settings: and I can also change settings for FF browser if Pale Moon is set as default browser (as illustrated-added check-mark): but cannot change Pale Moon settings:

Re: Anyone know why Pale Moon acting different for Windows Default Programs in Control Panel?
Yeah i have windows 10 and when i set PM as default and it has all its defaults I am unable to change any individual thing in PM in set your default programs.
If I then go to FF in set your default programs and give it all the defaults I also can't change anything within the FF area after doing so just like with PM.
They behave the same.
I think to change PM associations if it has all defaults you must go to another browser in set your defaults and change it there. So if you wanted some associations with FF, you must change it at FF not PM. I could be wrong.
In that second image, it looks to me like PM is your default browser not FF. And in the third it looks like FF is your default browser not PM.
So there you can give parts of its defaultness to other browsers.
When PM has all its defaults, i can't change anything from PM:
Same story with FF -when it has all defaults i can't change anything just like above:
But when PM is default (and vice versa in the case of FF default) I can change things from FF if i want to associate FF with some of those settings that are defaulted to PM by clicking "choose defaults for this program" in FF set your default programs :
I selected bottom 3 in above example. You would then save it if that is what you wanted.
Then if you check FF in default programs- you would see the associations you made.
On the PM side it is:
I think that is how it works though not 100% sure .

Re: Anyone know why Pale Moon acting different for Windows Default Programs in Control Panel?
You are probably right, it seems that I recall being able to make changes to Pale Moon when it was default but maybe I'm mistaken.
If I am mistaken it's probably setup this way so that by only allowing other non-default browsers to be changed this forces a default to always be set. I was attempting to set parts of the default settings to not have a default (wanted to force windows "open with" prompt for URL's), but by forcing default changes to only be set by a browser that is not the default (which I presume then disabled [deselects] that sub-default setting for the default browser) there is no way to not have any one specific sub-default setting to not be set as a default for any one of the sub-default settings.
Not knowing for sure that I had been able to do what I think I did, I'll check the topic off as solved based on your feedback and conclusion (which I had considered myself as well and with your confirming the same thing I am more inclined to think I must be recalling incorrectly what I thought I did).
Thanks for the detailed feedback.
(this probably makes about as much sense as my initial post
)

Sure. I guess you can also go to associate a file type or protocol with a specific program and set every individual browser related file type to whatever browser you want from one place.
